Fishing Stories of Mythical Proportions

    As you may know, I really love fishing. So to do a KBE, I figured fishing would be a great way to connect to the komm. I know Link has one! Anyway, I will start with my favorite time fishing.

    Off of the Northeast, there is something called the Hudson Canyon, it is like the Grand Canyon but underwater and in the gulf stream. Even though the waters of NJ are far from tropical, the gulf stream carries tropical waters and tropical fish, like sharks, tuna, dolphins, mahi mahi. And large boats go to catch YellowFIN tuna (that was to rhett who said in the facing food fears episode said yellowtail which is a flounder) that are very large, fast fish. My favorite was fighting the fish, which is exhilirating. My first time at the age of around ten, i caught two fish, both 50--80 pounds and swimming at 65 mph. Ya, it's difficult, i didn't really know who was catching who. I had to go under and over poles/lines on the boat to avoid tangles yet still reel the line, and when it got about 20 feet away from the surface, in the clear canyon water, i saw it. A beautiful, large fish, about 5 feet long. That night I had caught a couple squid (my specialty) a blue shark (pests of the canyon) and i almost had a mahi, before sunrise, which i slept right through. I slept on the way home until we went to filet the fish, and boy was that fun, you wanna talk about fresh fish? I ate sushi that is so fresh it was plain with wasabi and soy sauce, no rice, no seaweed. I steaked the quarters, bagged them and took them home. Like that story. there will be more...............
