Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!
Hey guys,
I'm a 4th grade teacher that has been using your "best ever" episodes as weekly writing prompts in the classroom. The kids have really enjoyed those episodes, and more importantly, have learned that writing can be enjoyable! We're still a ways away from finishing season 1, but I've noticed in the later seasons that there's no more "best evers!" Please tell me this isn't true and I just didn't notice them!
As a sidenote, we've started greeting each other in the morning with "good mythical morning."
PS: I also posted this on the wiki...but it doesn't look very active.

That's really cool that you've been using the GMMs to teach your kids about writing!
Unfortunately, your observation about the "Best Ever" episodes in later seasons is correct. They move to something similar: Rather than testing and debating the merits of things to find a winner, they move to episodes where they go through a list of top things in a category until they reach #1. So I guess the biggest difference is that the "winner" is pre-determined.
Season 2's "Top Ten Moustaches of All Time" is an early example of this type of episode. Depending on how you use the videos to create a writing prompt, you could probably still use these, though!
YAHOO! I get to recycle another old pic . . .
Here is a link to the listing of GMM episodes that have "BEST" in the title or description . . . you will notice that in later seasons the "best" moniker might be substituted by some other term (which could be a lesson in itself), such as:

In light of today's episode, I thought of this discussion and figured it might be helpful to know that in the later seasons, they occasionally do "Will It" episodes. Rhett and Link will take a concept, like taco or ice cream sandwich and then try a bunch of different things to see if they work as that concept. As a prompt, you could ask the kids to discuss what "tacoed" best and worst, why each had that outcome, possible things they think would work as the taco, etc.
Some of the episodes don't have the "Will It" in the title and are similar (like this one), but I think there are at least 5 or 6 in this vein. If your prompts are weekly, that's a good amount to sustain you after you hit the end of your "Best Ever" episodes.
Thanks for the replies! The ideas are great and the Mythical Beastliness badge is awesome!
