Another Man's Trash: Stories about Free Stuff, Road Side Finds, and DUMPSTER DIVING

We live in a consumer society. When stuff breaks most people throw it away. A few rare individuals find and use some of this abandoned junk. In fact, believe it or not, lots of it even ends up back in the consumers hands.

As a junker, both myself and our whole family. We'd love to hear your stories of your best found freebie, road side find, good deal on a thrift store find, or yes, even stories of you legal "dumpster dive."

Good Luck!

I absolutely love roadside pickups . . . in fact, there's a 6 foot long church pew that weighs about 300 lbs in the back of my vehicle at this very moment.

We picked up a 27" TV yesterday. We did ask permission before hauling it off. The man said it didn't turn on anymore. After taking it apart and cleaning all the roaches and ants out of it (yuck!) we did get it to fire up. The flyback (in lay terms it's sends a whole lot of electricity to the tube with a big wire) was going out. There were some little dings in the screen so I didn't feel like wasting the $30 flyback I have on hand on it (even though it came out of another roadside TV).  So no joy on this one. Was really hoping to put it in one of our many arcade cabinets.
