In my part of North Carolina that's another name for Lance cheese crackers...
well, I grew up always knowing "nabs" meant a sixpack of crackers, filled with either cheese or peanut butter:

so i thought it would be funny to tip my hat to that. both my granddads always said "grab ya a pack a nabs, boy." so that's where my mind was when that came out of my mouth.
but now that i think about it..."nabs" is probably short for Nabisco.....hmmmm *googling*...yep!:
"The term "Nabs" today is used to generically mean any type of snack crackers, most commonly in the southern United States."

But, to your point, for the first few years of my marriage, my Papa--Lincoln--always referred to my wife as "madame" hahahaha...i just don't think he could remember her name! but he's got it now.
PS- "Nabs" are actually mentioned in the opening sequence of our Locklear movie too!
