This is not false advertisement. They used to have their songs available on their music page at rhettandlink.com, but they took them down once they announced their album because many of these free mp3 songs are going on their album, like the SETI Song, Robot Girlfriend, and ShamWow Song. And because they are creating content for us and it is their job, as in it puts food on their table, it only seems fair for us to help support them--THANK YOU for buying the new CD!! Rhett and Link appreciate it! As convenient as it is to get a free mp3, I don't feel right about that, especially when it comes to supporting independent internetainment.
They have been traveling a lot lately, so they might not have had the time recently to go through and remove those links on their videos.
You can also still buy their old albums via iTunes: "Websongs Vol. 1", and "I'm Sorry, What Was That?" I would highly recommend "I'm Sorry." Coffeeshop, Middle School Girlfriend, Science Project, Little Debbie, Punibrow... oh, gosh, that whole album is full of great songs!!!
I know this discussion is old, but I'm a newborn Mythical Beast and I've been working hard on building my Rhett and Link mp3 library. I've bought just about everything there is to buy, and now I've gone searching for free mp3 downloads (which I would gladly pay for if they were available for purchase since it helps you live). I came across this discussion and thought it may be helpful to you to know that there are still several of your music videos on YouTube which offer nonexistent free mp3s. I've also found a couple of songs with links that default to your homepage and I thought I'd let you know about those too, in case you want to modify them. I hope this helps you guys out. :)
Says Free mp3: The Sunburn Song, The Guacamole Song (with Recipe), ShamWow Song, Space Junk Song, I Want To Believe (X-Files Theme Song) - on second channel
Says available mp3 but there isn't one: Harry Potter Song, Economy Bailout Song
Also, Photoshop Song says there's a coupon available at /photoshop, and Crayon Colors Song says get mp3 at /blog/music. Both of these just default to your home page. Oh yeah, if you search your website for "free mp3" from the home page, it will also bring up a lot of outdated info.
While I'm at it, I'd like to mention that there are several of your songs which I'd love to have in my mp3 library which aren't currently available that I could find. I considered doing a YouTube to mp3 conversion out of desperation, but I'd feel better about getting the songs from you, either for purchase or for free download if you wanted to make them available. At the top of my list are The Guacamole Song, "Mosquitoes Suck" Song, The Break Up Song, Fast Food Folk Song (which would be awesome with the spoken parts included), and How We Met Song (Color a Mythical Beast) which I kind of consider the Mythical Beast theme song since it explains why we're called that. Also some older songs I'd really like to get hold of are The Sunburn Song, Wales & Badgers Song, Fear of Frogs, and even the Homeschoolers Song, short as it is. Oh, who am I kidding. I really want every single song you've ever done, but I thought I'd offer some starting places just in case you decided to take me seriously. Thanks!
hmmm...which one's still say "free"? post links here and we'll try to fix it. thanks!
and thanks Teresa TnT for your reply :)
