1984.  needs no explanation.

1 week of Samuri training?  probably would be cleaning bathrooms, making beds and cooking for the more advanced students, so you had better show up allready possessing some mad warrior skills.

Since you discussion only mentions time travel and not transpotation, and assuming that I wouldn't want to spend half of my week getting from Dallas TX to wherever else in the world might interest me at some specific time - - - I would probably pick the year 1490 just to see any part of America in its pre-Columbus state.

Then again, I could travel with my time machine to another part of the globe before the week begins.

So I go to Baltimore, MD and set the dial to September 3, 1814.  Once arrived, I secure passage aboard the HMS Minden.  What true American wouldn't want to be standing on a ship's deck next to a 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet named Francis Scott Key and witness from offshore that night battle which inspired him to pen "The Defense of Fort McHenry" . . . later to be set to tune and become more popularly known as "The Star Spangled Banner" . . . and eventually 117 years later by a congressional resolution the United States National Anthem.

I'd go back and do everything Bill Gates did, just a few days before he does it. Except I'd do it with Apple products.
i would go to any mid-evil village and start throwing iphones at them...see how they react
