Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

Hey guys!

I’m sure most of you have seen us roll playing in the Komm chat. ^^ Well, Zach and I have decided to make one here, in a discussion, for those who are interested in a more long-term RPG story.

Firstly, it might seem like there are a lot of rules, but they are mostly just common sense and will not inhibit your ability to control your character. Also, even though we are “Game Masters” we will not abuse that power, in fact we will even kill our own characters if we feel it is correct. This RPG story is meant to be fun, do not take anything that happens in it personal, no matter what. Have a good time, use your creativity as much as you can, and just enjoy the story as it unfolds.

Rules!

  1. You can have multiple Characters! They don’t have to be all on the side of good, or all on the side of bad, you can have both, either, or neither.
  2. You may not control another person’s named character.
  3. You may not kill another person’s named character.
  4. All decisions regarding final fates of characters are to be decided by the GMs (game masters).
  5. Try to keep the story central.
  6. GMs are able to ban participants.
  7. One post at a time! If you submit a post in the RPG story, don’t post again directly afterwards, wait for another person to post in between. If you address another person’s character, wait for that person to answer.
  8. All characters must be able to die. No invincible characters. Ever!
  9. Try your best to keep everything is pace.
  10. No destroying the world.

Sub rules

1. The world is an Earth like situation, which means that you cannot fly. Of course, some characters with wings, and magic powers are able to fly, but real-world physics still apply..
2. Mythical Beasts are allowed. Meaning you can have dragons, phoenixes, and other types of creatures that may or may not exist in the real world.
3. This is a time period similar the middle ages, which means, there are no guns.
4. There is magic on this world. (Such as the use of fire, water, earth, lightning, light, and dark magics.) Of course, standard use of magic applies.
5. You are allowed to create a character of a different race, such as the races: orcs, drow, elves, and dwarves, among others. Try to keep your character’s personality similar to the characteristics of its race. For example, since dwarves like to eat, to not make an anorexic dwarf.
6. There are the different kinds of magic users, such as: wizards, sorcerers, druids, warlocks, clerics, necromancers, magicians, etc. If you are going to use a magic user you must stay within the boundaries for that type of magic user. As an example Necromancers cannot heal people, it just doesn’t work.
7. Creatures that are summoned using something such as an artifact will have to return to their plane of existence after a period of time depending on the strength of the creature summoned. But if a creature is summoned through a ritual (such as a demon) they can say on the plane of existence they were summoned on until banished, or summoned elsewhere.
8. Magic is not infinite, it relies on the strength of the user and it takes a price for its use. The stronger the magic the more the energy it takes to use. If you use magic to start a fire, and then the fire starts the trees on fire, it will take less magic than for you to try to start all the trees on fire on your own. Magic will also take more energy to travel a further distance.
9. Weapons can be enchanted, although those weapons are rare. Weapons that are enchanted must be enchanted as they are made, they cannot be enchanted after they are finished being made.
10. If the game masters have missed any rules, or feel that there needs to be more, they can add rules for the sake of keeping the story fun, entertaining, and fair.

Now that the rules are all out there nice and pretty, I would like to ask something..

Mods, if you would like us to move this discussion to another, external, site, I would very happily do so, if it becomes bothersome in any way. I would however, very much like to ask that you do not delete it. If we could have a warning first, so we have a chance to save the work, I would be very, very thankful.

Okay! So enough boring stuff, it's time to have some fun with this! Just post below with your addition to the story. Be creative, be fair, and especially, have fun!!

Rilien landed with a thud. Once he recovered from the shock of what had just happened and his fall, he realized there was something squirming under him. He sat up and saw that he had landed on Dimitri.

"Oh, sorry about that," he said as he got up and extended his hand to help the leprechaun up. "Are you alright?"

"I-I don't know," Myra sniffed, still shaken up from what she had witnessed. "A man shot Elara from the window. Then he came inside and talked to Norara. She said something about you and him, and Timothy resembling him. And something about cross bloods. She, she called him umm... Lorcan, I think." She stood up and backed up against the wall.

"I'm so sorry," she said. "I should have stopped him, but I didn't know what to do..."

-------------------------

Rilien turned around in time to see Loraden collapse as a dark hooded figure held a cloth over his face. Then the figure left the building and was gone before Rilien had time to react. "Hey!" Rilien yelled and ran after it. He pulled up outside of the door. Whatever it was had disappeared. He looked around the building and down the road, but couldn't find it anywhere. Strange, he thought. He headed back into the inn to check on Loraden. Kneeling down by the limp Loraden, he felt for a pulse. There was a faint pulse and his breathing was slow. He had been drugged, and there wasn't much Rilien could do for him besides sit and wait for him to wake up. So he carried Loraden over to a bench in the corner and set him there, and sat down on a chair nearby.

Every time Rilien was about to say something, Loraden or Dimitri had started talking. Oh well, they were figuring out everything themselves and left to go do... whatever it was they were doing.

Rilien yawned and realized he was extremely tired. Settling down on the bench, he closed his eyes and rested.

------------------------

"I don't know. He left the room and turned right." Myra said. She saw the look of desperation in Lanie's eyes. The poor girl... then Lanie fell and Myra ran over and knelt down by her. She wanted to comfort her and tell her everything was going to be alright... but she had a feeling that everything was not alright. Something was terribly wrong. So she just reached her arms out to support and embrace Lanie.

Frank thought, Hmm... I wonder what I could do with this axe...

Seth, who was brooding on the past, looked up at Samenta. Suddenly a black sword appeared in his hand.

“This isn’t good.” He said as he stood. “Perigrina, stay here.” He said as he looked at the young woman. “Finn, let’s go.” Finn’s sword appeared in his hand as well. “Samenta, if you have a weapon, it would be good to get it now.” After finishing this he walked out of the room with Finn following behind.

(Sorry... again... I have been VERY busy...)

This is for you, Ray. XD Also, anything between "[ ]" is a comment by me. I like poking fun at my writing at times.

Xylia heard a loud crash in the middle of her story to Aayla.

"What is going on?!" she completely left her sobbing friend behind [how selfish... follow the selfish fool, Aayla!] and ran outside to see what was the matter with her inn. "WHAT'S HAPPENING?!"

She ran to the main room where Macon was still standing. She rushed towards him [what is he doing? admiring the wreckage?] before noticing the giant hole in the ceiling. She stood there in shock for a few interminable seconds, wondering what could have happened to do that to her inn. [Her inn? Since when is it yours, silly Xyli?]

"M-Macon..." she said, "what happened?" [as if he didn't hear you the first time, stupid]

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gallimond smiled as Loraden left... Finally, peace. There was no relaxing while Loraden was around, sticking his nose in other people's business. May bad luck follow you everywhere, my friend. he thought, his sickening grin widening. [I love you, G!!] Now, what to do? If all was going well, Macon was working his magic with Xylia, and soon he would be able t0 train her to follow him. [sure, that'll work] All was working beautifully. And, if his timing was right, which it often was...

His thoughts were interrupted by a loud crash. What could that possibly be? His spies reported the inn... the roof of the inn. It had been ripped off. Something about Loraden... but what? They didn't know.

"Worthless spies!" he spat, "what's the point in having you all?" [G watches British TV...?]

They asked if he wanted them to go back and report on Macon. Of course he didn't, he replied, as they obviously didn't do their jobs right.

He grabbed his cloak and got ready to see how things were going to go. Hm.. it might just work to his advantage. Of course, Macon wouldn't see him. He would be spying, making sure everything was going as planned. And no one would notice. Because what Loraden didn't know, what no one here knew, was that his excellent spies were not, in fact, the best available.

He was.

[oh, G... so full of yourself, yet so amazing]

(was that a DW reference, bro? you're awesome)

Xylia stared blankly at Loraden until he abruptly walked off. She yelled after him nonetheless [you're not getting away this easy, Ray]. "Who are you, anyway!? Always here, always seem to know what's going on?!" Before running after him, she turned to Macon. "Come on, I'm following him." She then kept to her words, going after Loraden, the whole time thinking... Mechanical owl? Is this man insane? Well, anything could happen. Especially nowadays.

She walked to where Loraden opened the door to a stranger, Demetri. She heard him give a long speech that sounded like pure nonsense to her.

"Loraden!" she yelled, interrupting them [our Xylia has gotten so rude! UGH] "Explain to me what's going on. And if you don't mind, I'd like to join you wherever you're going. It's probably safer than being here, anyway. And there's no way I'm letting you get away again, especially not leaving all this unexplained madness behind you."

---------------------------------

Gallimond was in the village, watching all the events transpire. How interesting... Xylia, Macon, Loraden, and that Dimitri all in the same place. This could turn out well. He used some energy to listen in on their conversations. The owl, huh? his mouth curved into a wicked grin. Very interesting...

(I caught that right away XD Glad you included that. Kind of made my day.)

Xylia listened patiently to Loraden's explanation, before hearing Lanie screaming. Her eyes widened [with apologies to Mr. Frank] as she realized they had been screaming in the middle of the night. "I'm sorry!" she said to Lanie, "You can go back to sleep now, we'll be more quiet." Xylia thought she saw something in Lanie's eyes... pain?

She turned to Loraden again, "I think I understand who you are now. And just how big is this owl we're talking about? Because it must have been huge to make this kind of damage."

"Wow," Xylia said, "and a humongous version of that thing did this to my inn?" She stared at the owl flying above her. "I guess the inn can't exactly keep me here, can it?" Moe entered her mind, but she kicked him out. He had obviously abandoned her [how long has it even been?] And Macon... Aayla... maybe they could go with her? [I need Nicole and Anna back D: ]

"Anything you need me to do, Loraden. But I'm going with you."

"Okay, so we gather information. You say it's after you? Oh well, I guess I'm safer than I would be otherwise. What exactly do you need me to do, though? Get information... but how exactly? I'm up for it. Just tell me what to do." Xylia waited... waited for her friends, waited for Loraden, waited maybe for the last time in a while.

Xylia was mesmerized by the flame. It filled her mind, became her everything. She envisioned with great pleasure putting that flame out, pulling those yellow flames that licked the air until they were stretched out so thin they couldn't survive. She could picture the fire going out, and it was wonderful.... so wonderful...

Xylia quickly blinked, snapping out of her trance. It had only lasted a fraction of a second, but it felt like forever to her... What had happened?

Then she remembered. The flame. The flame she despised. She looked at the torch, trying to find the flame again... but she couldn't. It was gone

Xylia smiled at Macon, "Thank you! That would be wonderful!" She still didn't really know him, but still, she felt she trusted him for some reason.

She turned to Loraden, "Macon's coming with me, okay?"

"So, Macon, apparently we're going on an adventure. Exciting, huh?"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gallimond had to keep himself from expressing his glee outwardly. There was Macon, finally, apparently going on a journey with Xylia. And quite the journey it would be. Of course, Loraden would be a bother, as usual, but Gallimond knew he could deal with him. No one was interfering with this plan.

They would follow a trail, a long, bitter trail, and it would lead where they least expected.
