Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

Hey guys!

I’m sure most of you have seen us roll playing in the Komm chat. ^^ Well, Zach and I have decided to make one here, in a discussion, for those who are interested in a more long-term RPG story.

Firstly, it might seem like there are a lot of rules, but they are mostly just common sense and will not inhibit your ability to control your character. Also, even though we are “Game Masters” we will not abuse that power, in fact we will even kill our own characters if we feel it is correct. This RPG story is meant to be fun, do not take anything that happens in it personal, no matter what. Have a good time, use your creativity as much as you can, and just enjoy the story as it unfolds.

Rules!

  1. You can have multiple Characters! They don’t have to be all on the side of good, or all on the side of bad, you can have both, either, or neither.
  2. You may not control another person’s named character.
  3. You may not kill another person’s named character.
  4. All decisions regarding final fates of characters are to be decided by the GMs (game masters).
  5. Try to keep the story central.
  6. GMs are able to ban participants.
  7. One post at a time! If you submit a post in the RPG story, don’t post again directly afterwards, wait for another person to post in between. If you address another person’s character, wait for that person to answer.
  8. All characters must be able to die. No invincible characters. Ever!
  9. Try your best to keep everything is pace.
  10. No destroying the world.

Sub rules

1. The world is an Earth like situation, which means that you cannot fly. Of course, some characters with wings, and magic powers are able to fly, but real-world physics still apply..
2. Mythical Beasts are allowed. Meaning you can have dragons, phoenixes, and other types of creatures that may or may not exist in the real world.
3. This is a time period similar the middle ages, which means, there are no guns.
4. There is magic on this world. (Such as the use of fire, water, earth, lightning, light, and dark magics.) Of course, standard use of magic applies.
5. You are allowed to create a character of a different race, such as the races: orcs, drow, elves, and dwarves, among others. Try to keep your character’s personality similar to the characteristics of its race. For example, since dwarves like to eat, to not make an anorexic dwarf.
6. There are the different kinds of magic users, such as: wizards, sorcerers, druids, warlocks, clerics, necromancers, magicians, etc. If you are going to use a magic user you must stay within the boundaries for that type of magic user. As an example Necromancers cannot heal people, it just doesn’t work.
7. Creatures that are summoned using something such as an artifact will have to return to their plane of existence after a period of time depending on the strength of the creature summoned. But if a creature is summoned through a ritual (such as a demon) they can say on the plane of existence they were summoned on until banished, or summoned elsewhere.
8. Magic is not infinite, it relies on the strength of the user and it takes a price for its use. The stronger the magic the more the energy it takes to use. If you use magic to start a fire, and then the fire starts the trees on fire, it will take less magic than for you to try to start all the trees on fire on your own. Magic will also take more energy to travel a further distance.
9. Weapons can be enchanted, although those weapons are rare. Weapons that are enchanted must be enchanted as they are made, they cannot be enchanted after they are finished being made.
10. If the game masters have missed any rules, or feel that there needs to be more, they can add rules for the sake of keeping the story fun, entertaining, and fair.

Now that the rules are all out there nice and pretty, I would like to ask something..

Mods, if you would like us to move this discussion to another, external, site, I would very happily do so, if it becomes bothersome in any way. I would however, very much like to ask that you do not delete it. If we could have a warning first, so we have a chance to save the work, I would be very, very thankful.

Okay! So enough boring stuff, it's time to have some fun with this! Just post below with your addition to the story. Be creative, be fair, and especially, have fun!!

(**NOTE OF IMPORTANCE: There has been some confusion (and typos) regarding the room numbers at the inn. Let's clear it up. Xylia gave Lanie and Red room 22, which they might still occupy. Maybe. Macon has room 23. And Lanie's dying sister Elara has room 24. Any other rooms are available for your taking.**)

Xylia remembered she had not made sure Macon found his room arrangements comfortable yet. She walked towards the rooms, looking for number 23. She could hear some talking in there. Good. He's awake. She knocked on the door. "Hello? It's Xylia, the innkeeper. I'm just checking on you."

Once the door opened, she saw Macon. Apparently he had been trying to sleep. "I'm so sorry if I woke you up." she said, "I can come back later. I just wanted to make sure you had everything you needed so far."

Xylia smiled and waited for his response.

Rin turned just in time to block the over hand swing from Raelin.

“You know that you can’t kill me, Raelin.” Rin spat. “You can’t risk it.”

“You know nothing, Rin. I don’t need them to kill you. They may be killers, but I can take you on my own.” Raelin replied. He then lifted the butt of his spear to stab at Rin. The butt of the spear stopped a few inches from hitting Rin.

“You have your wards on.” Raelin sounded disgusted.

“I never leave without them.” Rin replied to Raelin, as he stabbed at him. Rin’s spear hit a solid wall just like Raelin’s did. “You have yours on as well, I see.”

“You knew I would. You had better leave they are coming. And they remember me.” Raelin said to Rin.

“Very well, Raelin, I will leave this time. Mark my words, those who are against the law will be taken care of.” With this Rin vanished.

Seth stomped out of the room, not caring if people followed him. He took the note, and shoved it in his pocket. He mumbled what he had read, “Finn, Seth, we have taken the map. It is no longer safe here. It is coming. We took the map to prevent you from falling in the wrong hands. You know what the map does. We took it to make sure you could remember without the pressure of them. Finn, Seth, follow your hearts and minds, you know where we are. You will remember. We leave you with this: one hates the path, the other cares for her. Follow her and you will know where we are.” Seth continued to march out of the hall. He thought he saw a shadow out of the corner of his eye, but he wasn’t sure.

“Finn, read this.” He handed the note to Finn. “What do you make of it?” Finn read it once, before he crushed it in his hand.

“Oops, sorry, Seth.” He said as he smoothed it.

“It’s ok, Finn.” He then turned to Myra. “It looks like it might take a little longer for you to learn, than we expected. I apologize.” He said as he turned and marched down the hall and a fast pace.

Xylia wasn't so glad that Macon could see through her act so easily. It unnerved her that she was that transparent. "Well, mainly, I just wanted to know all was well in my inn. And, to be honest," she looked down, "I was wondering what brings you here. We have had strange folks about this week."

----------------------------------------

Duke Gallimond listened to his hawk's words. "So, he is coming here, isn't he? Go and tell him I do not believe he will be arriving unarmed at all. The very thought is ridiculous. I will be glad to have him join me."

He called his servants, "prepare a feast! Tonight, we eat merrily!"

Gallimond smirked, "Do you really think I don't know what I'm doing, Loraden? And that's Duke Gallimond to you. Xylia... I have been waiting ten years to get her back, and I do need her back, before her true power and beauty start appearing and she is frightened by herself. She cannot remain untrained, you surely must agree. And as for this Argoron character, I have a plan for him. Quite an amusing plan, if I do say so myself." He motioned towards his table. "Would you like to sit?"

--------------------

"Wow," Xylia said, "I never knew my parents." Now why had she told him that? "But I can imagine what it must be like for you. I hope you find him, truly."

Seth stormed out of the castle, tossing the gold to the guard.
“Thank you for your help.”
“No problem at all, sir.” The guard responded.
Seth marched, with Finn behind, out of the grounds. He left the gate open as he passed. “Who is this ‘She’ that the note talked about? I remember something like that, it is on the tip of my tongue.” He continued to walk, in silence, until he reached the front door of the inn. Finn, who was also thinking, didn’t realize that Seth had stopped. Finn walked right into Seth, flattening him on the door.
“Oops, sorry, Seth.” Finn said.
“It’s ok, Finn, we have a lot to think about.” Seth replied. He opened the door to see the inn in total chaos. He scanned the room, trying to see if help was needed. What caught his eye was someone in the back. The person was sitting on one of the chairs in the corner of the room, watching everything. His or her hood was pulled up, so no one could see where the person was looking. Seth noticed a small chain around the person’s neck. He couldn’t make out what it said, though. It seemed that the person realized that Seth was studying him or her, and the person stood up. Seth realized, as the person stood up, that it was a girl. She pushed down her hood, allowing her golden hair to fall down. The age he guessed was about nineteen, maybe a little older. She smiled as his hand moved to his dagger.
“You had better remember me, you two pains.” She said. “I have been looking for you two for a good few weeks now. And now I will need to help you tie your boots.” She said in a joking tone. “When have I ever seen you two when you don’t need help?” She asked, hoping to get an answer.
“I remember you, I think.” Finn said to the girl.
“I don’t.” Seth said flatly, his hand still holding his dagger.
“Seth, do you really not remember me?” She asked, her face was sad.
“Nope.” He said.
“Well, then I might have to jog your memory.” She said, a sad smile on her face. “By the way, who is your friend?” She asked, looking at Myra.
“This is Myra.” Finn said, at the same time Seth said, “What’s it to you?”
The girl looked stunned at the responses.
“You will remember me, Seth.” She said as if making a vow. “Now, you two, and your friend if she chooses, follow me. I’ll get a room, so that we can talk.” She said, as she walked up the stairs. Finn followed, and Seth decided that it might be worth it. He followed Finn up the stairs.
Finn and Seth followed the girl down the hall in the inn. At the end of the hall they went in the door on the left. The girl sat on the bed, indicating three chairs in the room (one for each of the three in the party).
“So, you really don’t remember me?” She started.
“Nope.” Seth replied.
“Kind of.” Finn said.
“If you expect me to tie your boots, and change you, you are wrong.” She said, smiling. Seth sat there, fuming. Finn started to laugh at the scowl on Seth’s face. “I’m talking to you too.” She said to Finn. That statement whipped the grin off of Finn’s face.
“We didn’t come here to be insulted.” Seth said to the girl.
“Oh, you’ve had this coming for a while.” She said to Seth. She then flicked Seth’s nose and pulled her hand back before he could grab her wrist. Finn started to laugh again. She then took out a small piece of cloth, and put a little water on it. She then proceeded to wipe the dirt off of Finn’s face.
“Enough!” Finn shouted at her.
“Oh, you big oaf, stop fussing.” She said with her hands on her hips.
“Hey, what is your problem?” Seth asked her. She completely ignored Seth’s question.
“I remember you with longer hair.” She said as she reached up to fool with Seth’s hair. Seth grabbed her wrist and twisted it behind her in the blink of an eye.
“What is wrong with you, Perigrina?” He said with her hand behind her back.
“Good, it took you long enough to remember.” She said, pain evident on her face, “Would you loosen up please? It kind of hurts.” As Perigrina said this, Seth let her go.
“I only remember your name. I’m sorry, Perigrina.” He said.
“It’s ok, Seth.” She said fooling with his hair in her left hand, and Finn’s in her right. “You guys have always been a pain, and you have always needed me.” She said with a smile.

Myra had just been following. She felt like a puppy, just tagging along and not doing anything...

She was surprised to find the inn in total chaos. She wanted to do something to help but then Seth saw the girl, and she went with them upstairs to the room. She listened, but after a while, she was too curious and confused to keep quiet.

"Okay, what is going on?" she asked. She figured that Perigrina somehow knew Seth and Finn from somewhere that they couldn't remember and probably had something to do with the mission they were on now. Maybe Perigrina would have some answers.

Gallimond replied: "Listen, Loraden. I doubt you  have that much power. But while we're on the subject, let me just tell you how much I do NOT want to give up Xylia. She is an essential part of the plan, which is not your business to know. It may or may not involve this Argoron. In fact, he sounds interesting. Maybe I'll meet him someday, though it's doubtful. I know reading minds drains you, magic drains everyone in this world. How much more will watching my every move drain you? So, Xylia will soon be under my care, whether you like it or not. Now, let us eat." He saw how Loraden sat down, and knew he was faking it. Trying to give me false pride, aren't you? Well, you can't weaken me that way. I know you're reading my mind. Feast upon it, let it drain away the energy you have left. Know this, Loraden, I am not as human as you think.

----------------------------------------------------

Xylia heard the sadness in Macon's voice, and her heart broke for him, "I'm so sorry. I don't know what you've been through, to be honest. But I wish I could help you, I really do. But as you can see, the inn is sort of busy right now, and its owner is no where in sight."

Seth turned to Myra. “Well,” He started, but then stopped. He turned to Perigrina. “Maybe you should explain this.” He said.

“Well, I can’t say too much.” She started. “If I do, Finn and Seth might never remember. But this isn’t the first world that they have been to. I have gone with them on many different worlds. Every one that I have been on with them, they have needed me. I am kinda like their younger sister.” She smiled at the looks on Finn and Seth’s faces. Suddenly Seth stood up. He pulled out a hand crossbow. He motioned for Finn to do the same. Seth loaded a small dart; it seemed to be the size of a large needle.

“The last blood elf that I killed was outraged.” Seth said to himself.

“What are you talking about, Seth?” Perigrina asked.

“The last blood elf that I met, I needed to kill. If I can, I want to save this one. I hate to kill elves. They are my kind.” He said. “There is another one in the common room.” He spoke to Finn. They moved to the window, and saw a person holding a kid in the air.

“Quickly, Finn!” Seth said, but he realized they couldn’t save the kid. “Fire!” He whispered. They pulled the trigger on their hand crossbows. The small click is the only sound they heard before the darts hitting the blood elf in the leg. Seth then hopped out of the widow; it was only two stories high. Seth landed softly, his black cloak floated behind him. Finn landed next to him.

Perigrina turned to Myra, “Stay here.” She said, as she hopped out of the window. She landed next to Seth as well.

“Listen to me.” Seth said to the blood elf. “You have about twenty seconds until the sleeping poison takes effect. You will sleep well, and when you awake you will be yourself again.” Seth finished as the poison started to work through the veins of the blood elf, making the body go numb.

Seth turned to Finn, “You have more muscle, and you can carry her. Right?” Finn nodded to Seth as he bent to pick up Samenta. Perigrina opened the door to the inn, leading the way upstairs. Seth followed right after Finn, who was carrying Samenta. They climbed up the stairs and started to walk down the hall. Seth took out his dagger and set the blade on his left arm. As soon as the blade touched his arm, he felt very cold. The dagger has the power to take the lifeblood, or the life (period), from someone. He could feel it draining his life. He took the dagger off his arm.

“I hope this works.” He said, as the party walked down the hall.

Perigrina led the way up the stars. Finn followed closely behind. Seth felt a presence, he knew there was another blood elf, but he didn’t know where. He followed closely behind Finn, hoping that the chaos in the inn would mask their presence. He held the dagger close. He was ready to use it if he needed too.

“The last one I killed is the last I will kill.” He thought to himself. “If this one dies, I don’t think I could bare it. She might be the one.” He hoped so, it would make their work a lot easier. Seth looked up from his dagger to find that they were standing outside of their room. Perigrina led the way into their room.
Myra had watched out the window when the three had jumped out and picked up a bloodelf they had tranquilized. She moved away from the window and started pacing the floor in the room. It had been a very long day and she was exhausted. What time was in anyways? Sometime in the middle of the night, maybe almost morning. She felt lost in the events of the day, like she didn't quite fit in. She wasn't an elf, or a world traveller, or had any kind of magic that she knew of at the moment..... She was tired of being around people and just wanted to go home and curl up in her bed.
She sat on the bed in the room with her back leaning on the headboard. She was starting to doze off when the door opened and Finn, Seth, and Perigrina were there with the bloodelf. She moved off the bed and onto a chair to make room for them, and then Loraden burst through the door saying something about an eraged bloodelf.
