Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

Hey guys!

I’m sure most of you have seen us roll playing in the Komm chat. ^^ Well, Zach and I have decided to make one here, in a discussion, for those who are interested in a more long-term RPG story.

Firstly, it might seem like there are a lot of rules, but they are mostly just common sense and will not inhibit your ability to control your character. Also, even though we are “Game Masters” we will not abuse that power, in fact we will even kill our own characters if we feel it is correct. This RPG story is meant to be fun, do not take anything that happens in it personal, no matter what. Have a good time, use your creativity as much as you can, and just enjoy the story as it unfolds.

Rules!

  1. You can have multiple Characters! They don’t have to be all on the side of good, or all on the side of bad, you can have both, either, or neither.
  2. You may not control another person’s named character.
  3. You may not kill another person’s named character.
  4. All decisions regarding final fates of characters are to be decided by the GMs (game masters).
  5. Try to keep the story central.
  6. GMs are able to ban participants.
  7. One post at a time! If you submit a post in the RPG story, don’t post again directly afterwards, wait for another person to post in between. If you address another person’s character, wait for that person to answer.
  8. All characters must be able to die. No invincible characters. Ever!
  9. Try your best to keep everything is pace.
  10. No destroying the world.

Sub rules

1. The world is an Earth like situation, which means that you cannot fly. Of course, some characters with wings, and magic powers are able to fly, but real-world physics still apply..
2. Mythical Beasts are allowed. Meaning you can have dragons, phoenixes, and other types of creatures that may or may not exist in the real world.
3. This is a time period similar the middle ages, which means, there are no guns.
4. There is magic on this world. (Such as the use of fire, water, earth, lightning, light, and dark magics.) Of course, standard use of magic applies.
5. You are allowed to create a character of a different race, such as the races: orcs, drow, elves, and dwarves, among others. Try to keep your character’s personality similar to the characteristics of its race. For example, since dwarves like to eat, to not make an anorexic dwarf.
6. There are the different kinds of magic users, such as: wizards, sorcerers, druids, warlocks, clerics, necromancers, magicians, etc. If you are going to use a magic user you must stay within the boundaries for that type of magic user. As an example Necromancers cannot heal people, it just doesn’t work.
7. Creatures that are summoned using something such as an artifact will have to return to their plane of existence after a period of time depending on the strength of the creature summoned. But if a creature is summoned through a ritual (such as a demon) they can say on the plane of existence they were summoned on until banished, or summoned elsewhere.
8. Magic is not infinite, it relies on the strength of the user and it takes a price for its use. The stronger the magic the more the energy it takes to use. If you use magic to start a fire, and then the fire starts the trees on fire, it will take less magic than for you to try to start all the trees on fire on your own. Magic will also take more energy to travel a further distance.
9. Weapons can be enchanted, although those weapons are rare. Weapons that are enchanted must be enchanted as they are made, they cannot be enchanted after they are finished being made.
10. If the game masters have missed any rules, or feel that there needs to be more, they can add rules for the sake of keeping the story fun, entertaining, and fair.

Now that the rules are all out there nice and pretty, I would like to ask something..

Mods, if you would like us to move this discussion to another, external, site, I would very happily do so, if it becomes bothersome in any way. I would however, very much like to ask that you do not delete it. If we could have a warning first, so we have a chance to save the work, I would be very, very thankful.

Okay! So enough boring stuff, it's time to have some fun with this! Just post below with your addition to the story. Be creative, be fair, and especially, have fun!!

Xylia almost sighed in relief at their answer, but, seeing the injuries on Lanie's arms, decided to give her help anyway. She was, after all, a living being, and Xylia wasn't completely heartless. "Room 22 is free, if you need it. And if you ever need anything for those wounds," she gave  Red what she hoped was a meaningful look- Lanie needed help with her injuries, "just ask me or any of the waitresses. We have supplies. The room is unlocked, by the way. So go up there whenever you want. If you ever need me, I'll be in the inn, hopefully." You can never be sure. Before she could let herself be afraid of Red again, she walked to attend some customers.

A man stood holding an ancient-looking book in front of his face, taking up an entire table but obviously not paying for anything. She wondered if he was waiting on a family member.  "Excuse me, sir, but do you need anything?" Xylia asked. He slowly lowered his book. It was the man who had tried to talk to her earlier.

"Allow me to introduce myself," he said, a hint of exhaustion in his voice, "I am Mr. Gallimond, and I've been waiting to meet you again."

"Again?" Xylia asked. He couldn't possibly be referring to their talk earlier in the day.

"Yes, again. I knew you, Xylia, before you even knew yourself," he said meaningfully, "did you ever forget a part of your life you wish you could remember? I'm sure you have, Xylia, and here's the thing..." he paused: "I know who you are." Xylia stood still and shut her eyes, willing herself not to run away as she recognized the man's name.

Seth followed the guard into the house. They started to walk down a long hall. Seth stopped, and so did the guard.

“What is it?” the guard asked.

“I… feel like I know this place.” Seth replied.

“So do I, Seth.” Finn stated.

“You just might, I remember you guys.” The guard said to Seth.

“How can you remember us?” Seth replied, sounding suspicions. But the guard just started to walk again. Seth motioned for the party to follow, not waiting for any reply. The guard marched down the hall, and he turned left at a suit of armor. The armor seemed to be familiar to Seth as well, but he continued to follow the guard. The party walked down the next hall and again turned left. They went through a tall group of double doors; both seemed to be made of solid gold. The doors led to a small pedestal, made of a combination of diamond and onyx. Seth motioned for Myra to stay at the door.

‘This might take a while.” He said with the motion. “Finn, this has something to do with magic, we will need to figure this out. I remember that we made it, and only we can take care of it.”

“This was about forty-two years ago, Seth, there is no way we will remember this.” Finn replied to Seth.

“I guess we owe you an explanation, Myra, I’ll tell you what I can remember.” Seth started. “We are not from this world. I am remembering not what our world’s name is, but that we are 21 by that world’s time. In this world we are about 126 or so. I cannot tell you much of our past, because I don’t remember it.” He continued. “But by the world standard time (The time that world travelers use) we are about 105 years old. We came here about forty-two years ago, seven years our world’s time. We were about 14. Are you following me so far?” Seth asked.

Rin watched as the party moved down the hall, he was in the suit of armor. “I need to watch those two.” He thought. He then heard footsteps in the hall; someone was running. He stepped out of the armor, and turned. He saw exactly what he was hoping wasn’t happening. Raelin was running right toward him.

Aayla saw Xylia and Red part which relieved her. She noticed they were running low on supplies, "I probably could go over to that old castle and retrieve some supplies from them." Aayla thought, "I'll go see what Xylia thinks."

Xylia was sitting at a table with an older man talking, Aayla walked over there and set her hand on Xylia's shoulder. "Do you want me to go to the castle and see if they'll lend us any supplies?" Aayla asked, she realized she had just interupted their conversation. She politely nodded to the fellow sitting across from them and waited for Xylia's reply.

Myra had just been following quietly, taking in her surroundings.

This place must have been in that book of memories that Finn showed me. She thought when they were talking to the guard.

She stayed by the door when Seth told her to, holding the dagger with both hands. She listened when Seth told her about him and Finn. "Yeah I'm following" she nodded.

Mr. Gallimond stared curiously at Aayla. He knows, I don't know how, but he does, Xylia thought. I can't let him find out everything about Aayla. I don't trust him.

"Yes, go to the castle, please," Xylia said, "take as long as you need." She hoped her friend caught her meaning. There was no way she was letting Mr. Gallimond near her.

Before her friend could reply, Lanie, the blood-elf, came up to her. She asked if she needed any help.

"Yes," she replied. "We could use some help, especially today. I know a bit about medicine, but not enough to help all these people." Besides, Xylia thought, Aayla will be gone...

When Xylia told her she could go Aayla was happy she could do something to help.

"I wonder who that older man is?" Aayla thought as she walked out of the inn.

She unteathered Cinnamon and mounted ready to ride to the castle. When Aayla got there she saw a guard,

"Oh good maybe he can help me." Aayla approached the guard, "Excuse me sir I was wondering if this castle contained any medical supplies? There has been a horrible fire that has nearly wiped out the town and a lot of people are in need of medical attention." The guard nodded and led Aayla inside of the castle. She heard lots of noises, like people were running around inside. Aayla turned her head and thought she saw Lila! She looked again, no one was there, "Creepy..." Aayla shivered.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"This is too much fun." Lila giggled to herself, having much fun indeed toying with Aayla.

Lila decided it was about time she got back to the jolly bear, and see what more fun this explosion had brought to the town.

When Lila approached the jolly bear she spotted the fellow Aayla had been so afraid of, Red. "Ooh this should be fun." Lila approached Red and bumped into him hoping for a *fun* reaction. She exaggerated the bump and *fell* (more like threw herself) to the ground and waited to see what Red would do.

"I'm sorry for the interruptions, Mr. Gallimond," Xylia said, not sorry at all, "now, what is it you were saying?"

"Yes, well, you see, I've known you all your life," Mr. Gallimond  said, "until I put you under the care of this Moses man, I never thought of giving you up. You're like a daughter to me, Xylia, and I need you back."
Xylia was not convinced. She hardly knew the man.

"It's been twenty earth years since your mother died in childbirth. I promised her that I, her friend, would take care of you. You are not human, Xylia," Xylia flinched at his words, but he continued, "but you are, in fact, very powerful."

"Really?" she said, pretending to be amused. Though she was that age, and his information sounded mostly accurate, there was something about him that wasn't quite right. "How so?"

"You see, Xylia, you come from a powerful race-" Xylia interrupted him at this. "Do you really think I have time for this right now, Mr. Gallimond, if that's even your real name? I have an inn to tend to, even in Moe's absence. If you want to set up an appointment at a more convenient time, I'd be pleased to find out all you know about me." The truth was she didn't want to know, but she wouldn't tell this man. "Thank you." Xylia walked over to where Lanie was and asked her, "What would you like to help with?"

-----------------------------------------------

Duke Gallimond, as only his closest friends knew him, was sure Xylia did not trust him. For good reason. He smirked. He would get her to trust him, and then he would take what he wanted.

He walked out of the inn and, as soon as he was outside, began uttering an incantation. A hawk soared from the skies and landed on his hand. Gallimond leaned towards it, and said in a sinister whisper, "Get me Macon. Tell him I have his mission ready for him."

Gallimond could have sworn he saw the hawk grin as it flew away to deliver its message.

"Ah, yes, just a small favor," Gallimond smiled. His castle always made him feel superior, a feeling he relished, "I'm sure you've heard of Xylia, the manager of the inn in that town. I am trying to get her to trust me, but I need someone who can get to her. You, my friend, might do nicely. You are only a year younger than her, or at least that's what she thinks, and I'm sure you could befriend her easily. That's what you have to do," he smiled a falsely assuring smile, "you see, Xylia has certain... powers. A certain beauty as well, that she is masking due to these same powers. I'm sure you would be stunned if she revealed her true self. But, alas, she cannot until I show her how, but I am hoping that when I do show her, she will be able to use these powers for my benefit. Understood?" He smirked. His plan would go perfectly. They always did.

------------------------------------------------------------

Xylia still didn't entirely trust Lanie. But then again, I don't really trust anyone. She smiled. "Could you check on the patients? They might need some medical care, and that is the one thing I cannot fully accomplish myself. Thank you so much for helping me, Lanie," Xylia said sincerely, "I needed it."

But even as she said these words, she wondered what her friend Aayla would think when she found out she had recruited none other than  a bloodelf, the very species that was out to destroy her.

Seth turned to Myra, “That is as far as I remember, Myra.” Seth then turned to the pedestal. He took a few steps toward it and decided to try to figure this out. Finn walked up beside him.

“Do you have any ideas?” Finn asked with a grin.

“Absolutely none. But let’s try to look like we know what we are doing, Ok?” Seth replied to Finn. Seth paced around the pedestal, mumbling to himself. He studied the craftsmanship on the pedestal, it seemed to be made as if a block of diamond and a block of onyx were swirled together. Then they were carved, making the shape. Seth touched the black part of the pedestal, because he felt like he was drawn to it. Immediately he pulled his hand away. He felt, different. He couldn’t put words to it.

“Finn, hold out your hand.” Seth ordered. Finn, looking confused, held out his hand. Seth hovered his above Finn’s. He snapped his fingers straight and a ball of white light appeared above Finn’s hand.

“Do you remember now?” Seth asked Finn. Finn nodded his head. “I’ll go first.” Seth said as he made a ball of blackness appear above his hand. “Make sure we don’t touch.” As Seth said this Fin took two huge steps back. Seth walked up to the pedestal and touched his orb to the black part of the pedestal. WOOSH! As he did this the lights all went out. Finn, who was still holding the ball of light, could be seen. He walked up to the pedestal and touched the ball of light to the diamond part of the pedestal. WOOSH! All the lights turned back on. The pedestal opened up, as the two parts seemed to disappear. There was a rolled up piece of paper sitting where the pedestal once stood. Seth picked it up, unrolled it, and read what it said. By the look on his face, Finn could tell that he was about ready to blow up the house.

okay then. She was expecting Seth to say more about what he remembered, but that was it. Myra leaned back against the wall and fingered the edge of her cloak as Seth walked toward the pedestal. She was beginning to think they weren't going to find much here. It was just the old castle that had always been on the hill above the village, and as far as she knew, there wan't anything extra special about it.

Then there was a bright light and she looked up. The light again! She took a couple steps forward and watched as they made the dark and light orbs. There was something to this castle after all!

Xylia felt hands on her shoulders immediately, probably belonging to the speaker of the words she had failed to fully take in, pulling her back from the prospective customer. She had been to preoccupied with the young man to even hear what was going on around her, but no one was allowed to touch her, not nowadays. Xylia whipped around, almost smacking Loraden with her long, black hair. She noticed he was the guy who was with the sinister Red when she had slapped him.

"Listen, you," she said. "I don't know who you are or what's going on, but you can't go making ridiculous accusations in my inn. This is a customer, he needs a room, what's so wrong about that?!" Besides... he's not bad looking either. She cast those thoughts from her mind as she handed the newcomer (Macon) the key to room 23. "Enjoy your stay," she said, with the widest smile she had to offer.

"And as for you, Loraden, please leave my inn in peace. Isn't there enough going on today?"

Xylia stood in shock. This Loraden man acted like he knew what he was talking about. "Well... um... thank you, then. Bye!"

She rushed back to see if anyone else needed help.

--------------------

Duke Gallimond smiled his sinister smile as he listened to the hawk speak in its secret language. So, a man named Loraden was trying to interfere with dear Xylia? "I'll get him. Even if Macon fails, we can't let Loraden interfere." he chuckled. "I guess we're going to have to deal with him." He turned to his knights, all trained with the darkest magic and the vilest of all powers. "Do what you have to do. But bring him back alive."
