Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

Hey guys!

I’m sure most of you have seen us roll playing in the Komm chat. ^^ Well, Zach and I have decided to make one here, in a discussion, for those who are interested in a more long-term RPG story.

Firstly, it might seem like there are a lot of rules, but they are mostly just common sense and will not inhibit your ability to control your character. Also, even though we are “Game Masters” we will not abuse that power, in fact we will even kill our own characters if we feel it is correct. This RPG story is meant to be fun, do not take anything that happens in it personal, no matter what. Have a good time, use your creativity as much as you can, and just enjoy the story as it unfolds.

Rules!

  1. You can have multiple Characters! They don’t have to be all on the side of good, or all on the side of bad, you can have both, either, or neither.
  2. You may not control another person’s named character.
  3. You may not kill another person’s named character.
  4. All decisions regarding final fates of characters are to be decided by the GMs (game masters).
  5. Try to keep the story central.
  6. GMs are able to ban participants.
  7. One post at a time! If you submit a post in the RPG story, don’t post again directly afterwards, wait for another person to post in between. If you address another person’s character, wait for that person to answer.
  8. All characters must be able to die. No invincible characters. Ever!
  9. Try your best to keep everything is pace.
  10. No destroying the world.

Sub rules

1. The world is an Earth like situation, which means that you cannot fly. Of course, some characters with wings, and magic powers are able to fly, but real-world physics still apply..
2. Mythical Beasts are allowed. Meaning you can have dragons, phoenixes, and other types of creatures that may or may not exist in the real world.
3. This is a time period similar the middle ages, which means, there are no guns.
4. There is magic on this world. (Such as the use of fire, water, earth, lightning, light, and dark magics.) Of course, standard use of magic applies.
5. You are allowed to create a character of a different race, such as the races: orcs, drow, elves, and dwarves, among others. Try to keep your character’s personality similar to the characteristics of its race. For example, since dwarves like to eat, to not make an anorexic dwarf.
6. There are the different kinds of magic users, such as: wizards, sorcerers, druids, warlocks, clerics, necromancers, magicians, etc. If you are going to use a magic user you must stay within the boundaries for that type of magic user. As an example Necromancers cannot heal people, it just doesn’t work.
7. Creatures that are summoned using something such as an artifact will have to return to their plane of existence after a period of time depending on the strength of the creature summoned. But if a creature is summoned through a ritual (such as a demon) they can say on the plane of existence they were summoned on until banished, or summoned elsewhere.
8. Magic is not infinite, it relies on the strength of the user and it takes a price for its use. The stronger the magic the more the energy it takes to use. If you use magic to start a fire, and then the fire starts the trees on fire, it will take less magic than for you to try to start all the trees on fire on your own. Magic will also take more energy to travel a further distance.
9. Weapons can be enchanted, although those weapons are rare. Weapons that are enchanted must be enchanted as they are made, they cannot be enchanted after they are finished being made.
10. If the game masters have missed any rules, or feel that there needs to be more, they can add rules for the sake of keeping the story fun, entertaining, and fair.

Now that the rules are all out there nice and pretty, I would like to ask something..

Mods, if you would like us to move this discussion to another, external, site, I would very happily do so, if it becomes bothersome in any way. I would however, very much like to ask that you do not delete it. If we could have a warning first, so we have a chance to save the work, I would be very, very thankful.

Okay! So enough boring stuff, it's time to have some fun with this! Just post below with your addition to the story. Be creative, be fair, and especially, have fun!!

"Alright just act normal around her, and never go anywhere alone with her. You could very well be in danger because of me.", "We better get you back." Aayla stood up and got ready to get back to the jolly bear inn.

Xylia was relieved when Aayla didn't ask any questions about her own past. Later... later I'll be brave enough to tell her. She walked as still as death, still unsure of what was going on. Danger! Real danger! She was going insane. This was not normal for her. She allowed her friend to guide her until they arrived at the inn again.

"Aayla... Moe isn't here yet," she said, knowing her friend knew all about the owner's drinking habits, "he's never been gone this long..."

After Xylia reminded her of this she became a little nervous. "I'm sure he's fine, he maybe lied down and just fell asleep." Xylia had gone through a lot tonight and Aayla felt she should give her at least this comforting lie. Aayla's voice started becoming horse and she felt achy. "Oh great she must still be here" She mumbled, "I'm gonna go and work in the back for a little while." Aayla gave Xylia a look and disappeared into the back.
One of the waitresses that had relieved her and Xylia came over and asked Aayla to go bring some mead over to one of the tables. Aayla appealed and took the mead and some beer over to the table. As Aayla was walking over to the table she saw Samenta sitting with Loraden and the weak feeling came over her. Aayla tried to stay calm and dragged herself over to the table with the mead hoping Samenta wasn't suspicious of her. (apparently in the presence of Samenta, Aayla becomes weak.)

Xylia settled herself into her chair after Aayla went to the back. Aayla... wow. It seems I'm not the only one who was holding back a secret.

Moe was fine, of course. He always was, even when he drank himself to oblivion. She smiled as she remembered the day Moe first took her into his home, her first real memory of her life.

As she reminisced, she sat there, observing the strange woman, Samenta, and Loraden, the man she had given the herbs to, talking. It seemed to be interesting. The man, Loraden, was leaning into the table, smiling like he knew everything there is to know. And the woman seemed wary of him, as if not deciding whether to trust the stranger or not.

Samenta. It's Samenta. The one Aayla
warned me about! She nearly knocked over her chair as she ducked under the counter, pretending to clean up a spill, hoping not to catch the attention of the one person she was trying to hide from. She peeked over the counter, only to see a sinister looking man grabbing Samenta. Sure, she had to stay away from her. But she had to keep her inn welcoming, and besides, she would still be inside the building, she hoped. She walked towards the sinister man, who had now dragged Samenta outside. He was still where he could discourage customers from entering. Ignoring the danger, she went outside, where Loraden was already talking to Red, who had yet to loosen his grip on Samenta. "Excuse me?" she said boldly, "could you please not do this here? I have a business to manage."

"Hmmm maybe." Myra said. From Finn's description of Raelin, she wasn't sure if she wanted to have him as a teacher. She glanced behind her as she followed Finn and Seth, who kept on walking towards the edge of the village. It was all happening so fast. Just an hour ago, she was sipping tea and now she was caught up in the middle of a grand adventure. It was exciting but terrifying at the same time.

"So where exactly are we going?"

"Well, I think we're going to meet Raelin, right Seth?" "Wrong." Replied Seth. "We need to get to the manor house and do our thing. Raelin reminded me of this house's origins, it's just like that old inn that we went through the all the puzzles to get that map. Our business isn't in the home, but under it." Seth suddenly stopped, and turned to Myra and Finn. "But first, we've got to get in. Myra, you can stay out of this if you'd wish, it could get dangerous." Finn's jaw clenched. "I hate breaking in.. did you get the money we needed Seth?" "I did." Seth replied. "Just a little bit of money to bribe the guards. Above all else Finn, don't, kill, anyone. Okay?" "Right." Said Finn, before he turned to Myra. "This all may seem confusing, but we can tell you more after we get the scroll. It's hidden deep under the manor, and has some secrets that we need. I hope you understand."

"No I'll go with you." She was nervous but determined not to turn back now. She didn't understand half of what they had just said, but she figured this was the perfect opportunity to find out more about this whole crazy situation.

How dare he shove her out of the way? The gall!

She rushed towards him, ignoring Loraden's irate screaming, and slapped him soundly in the face.

"I don't know how they treat people where you come from, but here, in MY town, you respect people! And I don't care if you look at me with your angry glare, I'm not afraid of you, you... you...!" She slapped him again for good measure.

Finn smiled. "All right." He looked down the road, as if looking for something, then turned back to Myra. "Do you have a weapon? You might need one, just in case.."

"Yes, a second time! That's what jerks like you get in this town! Bet you didn't even hear what  I said the first time, did you?" she glared at him. "That's right, you did not. I have half a mind to slap you again!"

She raised her hand, still wondering whether or not she should make good on her promise.

Seth continued walking. He slid a long dagger out of its sheath. He handed it to Myra.

“Be careful with that, it has a point.” He said as he handed it to her. He then checked to see if his sword was free in its scabbard. He then pulled his hood up, hiding his face. He smiled, thinking of what was to come. He then turned to Finn.

“Finn, I think She was in there.” He began. “I felt her presence, but I don’t remember how I did. All I know is that she was in there.” He ended, hoping that Finn would understand whom he was talking about.
