Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!
Oh, yeah, I am sure he did it for part of the show. They probably waited until the end to film some of a flashback scene where they had to play a younger version of themselves. Totally.... I also wonder if they might have filmed some GMMs way in advance, more than normal, to allow him to start growing it back. I feel like we might never actually see him beardless completely. This is not something he has been seriously pondering, like Link was with his hair.
I asked Page today why on earth we were getting snapchats and Rhett's Instagram post today with a full on, in our face beard, when we just saw him beardless last night. The first emoji was his response to that question. I then told him that I would leave him alone about all of this stuff, the second emoji was his response to that. Why so secretive? He is usually so talkative. I imagine he has been hushed. Or he is being mischievous.
one more from the weekend . . . coincidence that this would pop up out of the blue?
Not at all. Page is usually not that vague with his responses. It all seems so.......planned. (Illuminati confirmed). @Gumbo, if you have Instagram you can send a follow request to check out the updates I posted as they were rolling in. There is a lot of garbage on there, but some interesting stuff too. jayameezcat there as well. You can unfollow once you have what you need.
Rhett very casually and quickly admitted today that he's faking his current beard! https://youtu.be/8eraNZHM1to?t=24s

Mythical Beasts on social media were speculating all day yesterday about Rhett's beard when people noticed that the current fullness and configuration of his beard + mustache that appeared on Monday does not match up to how his beard looked in even last week's episodes.
last week vs. this week
And now it looks like he has confirmed it for us! There was no explanation provided in today's episode, but the running theory is that he had to shave it for something that will appear in Buddy System, and he's now wearing a fake beard either to prevent Buddy System spoilers, to maintain bearded consistency in GMM, or because he doesn't like appearing beardless (or all 3).
Honestly to me, this is all just fun. I could care less if he actually shaved or not. But I have witnessed some silly heated arguments and people blocking people from their accounts because they don't have the same opinions. It is much easier for a decent make up artist to apply a beard than it is to hide one. So...I agree with Victoria's comment and would like to add this. If you think about it, there are 11 millions subscribers world wide. If we just count the folks on the Kommunity, though I know there are more that call themselves Mythical Beasts, there are about 100K "dedicated" or "die hard" fans. There are probably casual viewers that still haven't learned of Buddy System at all. Why confuse the casual viewer by showing up all of a sudden without a beard. Having to explain that would spoil part of the story for those that don't have a clue. And actually there are probably only about 2000 of us that have heard of this #Beardgate2K16 at all, considering the views of this posts. No one should argue about this at all. I got a little wild on twitter yesterday when I noticed that poor Rhett couldn't even get genuinely excited while playing Battleship because if he opened his mouth too wide the beard would peel off. Since then, it has become a heated debate on Instagram with people using foul language against each other and blocking each other from their accounts. Folks on one side of that debate will feel pretty silly one day. So, I announced today on twitter that I am staying out of it, on that platform at least. If I get any more news or updates on the beard I will bring them here. I did tweet to Rhett that I can't wait until we can see him smile and laugh comfortably again. This has been rather interesting.
My vote on today's "admission" is YES = IT'S FAKE!
The beard has been longer and bushier than this before - - reference the lumberjack / sasquatch look at the beginning of GMM Season 3 from episode 215 BEARDS AND VESTS thru episode 231 KILLING RHETT'S BEARD - - - but in today's show the mustache definitely looks unnatural,
Also acknowledging the conspiracy theories on today's Facebook post, along with my favorite fan response comment . . .
