Collaboration ideas for GMM episode 1000!

Hey, Kommunity!

I think it would be very fun for us to do something together for Rhett and Link in celebration for GMM episode 1000, which if schedule continues as normal, will fall on October 13, 2016.

I've seen a lot of ideas floating around online, but I think now is about the time to get started.

So, the floor is open to many ideas and anyone can do whatever they like to celebrate, this is not official or anything, but maybe some of us can write an original song and make a short music video for them! (**CREDIT TO LUCY**) We can work on it in a group or elsewhere to prevent spoiling the result until finished. I have experience with iMovie for the videos (it's what I used for Link's birthday project) and GarageBand for mixing, if needed or desired. But, if someone is very fast and clean with editing (transitions, title cards, all the fancy stuff), that'd be more than helpful!

If you're interested in this, please discuss here. It doesn't matter how many people are involved, as long as everyone brings something to the table and we have good, clean fun!

And if you have other ideas, feel free to post them! Even if the song and/or video doesn't work out, we can do something else, too. :) Thanks!

If anyone is not really sure of what a collaboration video is, here's a few references that have been made in the past for YouTube gamer, Markiplier: "Markiplier Reacts to 6 Million Fan Music Video" and "Markiplier 8 Million Fans Video (Mark reacted 6/22!)"

The first one includes a cover song and the second one is more about saying thanks. I'm sure there's many more for other creators out there and we don't have to make one exactly like these, but they are really good examples and just good on their own. :)

The idea of making this a project into a "milestone" Thank you video is good :)

Because Heather mentioned above how sad it was that we didn't do anything for "10 years on Youtube". But I don't feel so sad about it, tbh. Because it happend during the time they were still busy with Buddy System and stuff. So they wouldn't had a chance to watch it anyway.

And should everyone hold up a sign or just the shy people among us?

Because if everyone does it we could use that in different ways as well.

1) everyone writes their country on it

2) everyone writes their Mythical Beast / common online name on it

Both of these options could also just be put in the video itself as a caption.

(and I'm saying this as a person who has almost no knowlegde of editing a video. So I can only imagine how much work that would be.)

But if we keep the sign idea anyway, maybe some of the creative Mythical Beasts can draw signs reading "Congrats to 10 million subs" + "Congrats to 10 years on Youtube" etc.

Then they just take pictures of that sign (or just upload a regular picture) and that could be included in the "intro" of the video.

[This was btw. my idea of how the video could look like:]

Black background and white text that reads something like

"A friendship and a blood oath had created a kingdom. A kingdom of Mythical Beasts.

These Mythical Beasts witnessed the start of a mythical journey, which began with a camera, two chairs and a desk.

A journey that is far from over and led to..."

[And then a cut to more text or the sign idea from above]

"10 years on Youtube"

"10 Seasons of GMM"

"1000 episodes of GMM"

"10 million subscribers"

"etc"

"So the Mythical Beasts wanted to show you their appreciation by saying..."

[Then cut to the different Thank you videos]

That means the sign idea (if it takes too long / is too much to ask for in this short period of time) can be left out, obviously.

And I'm pretty sure that we will reach a lot of people thanks to the Kommunity social media accounts or via e-mail :)

I'm not sure whether they're going to re-sing an updated version of the song for their 100th episode so I think just in case, we should write another song instead.

An idea I have is that we could all decide on the lyrics and the tune of the song, then have those who can sing, and want to do so, sing the song. (We could add instruments too)
After doing so, mythical beasts can lip sync and even dance to the song which could be made into a montage.
In order for it to be more organised, mbs can each sing a few seconds from the song designated to them.
It'll be easier for the editor as there won't be multiple mbs singing the same part of the song.

The lyrics could be us thanking them for making us smile when we felt down, incorporating our favourite moments or highlights from gmm, gmcl, and the kasts.

I don't know of this'll be possible but I hope it is!!

Well, you never know! It's very possible they would do another version of it, especially since they re-sang the Facebook song for Facebook!

I was thinking that for those that can't sing, you can contribute in some other way: writing, visual design of the video, audio/mixing, you can do some harmony if you prefer! title card art, (the intro and outro of the video) It could be a well-produced thing if we do it well! :)

And depending on how many people are involved, if we list favorite moments, we'll definitely have to narrow it down a bit for time. I'm sure that will be manageable.

Trying to think of somewhere I can be helpful here. I am a terrible singer and cannot edit worth a hoot. I have seen a ton of good ideas and will keep an eye out and brain storm to see if I can think of a way that I can actually contribute. You are great at putting this stuff together Heather. It takes a lot of work to wrangle all of us and I appreciate you starting a discussion to get this goin.

Maybe we can create some kind of secret message like they used to do with the secret puzzle piece, the mythical shoe thing, etc. They like those kinds of things, I think.

ONE MILLION (cue Dr. Evil) THANK YOUs might be a bit high for the goal, but a clip from 1,000 different MBs is probably more doable . . . you really have no idea the amount of work required to splice together 1,000 anything . . . it's going to be a long and tedious project, but aren't these always worth it in the end?

No, I have to admit, I don't have experience with this kind of work. I think we'd all appreciate it if someone helped who does. :)

And I meant, I dont have experience editing together 1000 or so clips, just a few that I've made, which is anywhere from 3-5 or 6. I can work with a few and I can certainly try to put it together. I'm just also saying it might be helpful to have someone do this who has better skills or more experience. We can figure all that out later.

Also, maybe some of the thank you's can be recorded during some of the Mythicon events this year!

I like Gumbo's idea of having MBs saying "thanks" (maybe in their own language would be cool!) and if they don't want to talk, they can hold a picture up to the camera. ;)
