I haven't figured that out yet myself. The way I wear mine is I have them laced very loosely so only about an inch is left at the top. This way has some pros and cons: I don't have to tie them and they slip on easily, but they are a bit too loose.

If anyone else has a better way to lace them, I too would like to know. :-)

I have a way that I do all my shoes, and it works very well for me! Note that it DOES involve cutting the laces, so you want to make sure they are at a good length before doing so.

1. Put on the shoes and don't tie them. Synch up the laces to be tight enough to keep the shoes comfortably in place on your feet, but not too tight that you couldn't slip out of them if you tried.

2. Make sure that the laces are laced "into" the shoe on the top hole. In other words, start with the lace on the outside and thread it through the hole so it goes inside the shoe. This is shown better in the picture in step 3 below.

3. Once at the optimal snugness, mark each lace with about 4 inches past where it comes through the top hole, and then take off the shoes and cut where you marked. This extra length is just to make sure you don't cut them too short. Then tie each lace in a knot (sometimes two) up as close as you can to the hole so it can't pull through, as shown in the picture below.

4. You're done! You can slip the shoes on and off to make sure they're tight enough. If they're too tight, you can retie the knot with some of the extra slack you cut. Too loose, just pull the laces tighter and redo the knot. Even if they're really hard to get on at first, that might be just perfect, since they get easier to slip on after a few times. They'll look like the picture below - hidden laces with no baggage!

Sometimes the knots will be visible, but it's not a big deal, and shows other people how you did it, I guess!

I just tied them, but I think it depends on how high you lace them for how uncomfortable it is. I still have the two holes on the top left so I can stick the tongue out of the shoe and that way the knot inside is more right at the bottom of my ankle and if I'm wearing socks I don't feel it.
