Yup! still hanging around the Kommunity . . . I'm tougher to get rid of then the common cold. Glad to see a few of the old regulars checking in this week, presumably in response to the blitz message "NEWS & UPDATES" that I sent out.
Don't be a stranger . . . we've got enough of those around here already.
I feel terribly ignorant. I assumed the term 'art song' was associated with the abstract, aleatoric, and atonal. After looking up what they actually are, I am indeed a fan, but didn't recognize the title *facepalm*. I am also a fan of Bach (check my user photo :)). Do you speak any of those languages outside of song?
Oh recitals, anyone having gone through those has my respect.
Woo high school. I was never a chorus kid, but I did sing with the chorus for 2 concerts.
I'm trying for Hartt's composition program. I'm still going to transfer to U of H in the fall anyways, hoping taking music and art classes (I got all my gen eds [save for 2] out of the way at my current school, so hopefully that will free up enough time for the double major), applying for the art school (graphic design/illustration) for spring semester. While I won't have playing recitals, I'll still have jurys and that makes me squeem. Oi, look at me talk on and on about myself..
I love musical theater and opera :). Art songs can go either way I suppose, but everything that comes to mind when I think that phrase isn't so great, lol.
Yay classical-based programs! The program I'm trying to get in for composition is also classical based (I didn't make it this year because I flubbed my playing audition. My compositions I had to send in, interview, and aptitude testing all went well so I'm hoping the deans will be cool with me basically taking major-related classes anyways).
What kind o' choir do you want to teach? Church/high school/college/etc.?
I'm not learning basics in terms of playing and reading sheet music, because I have that down (band since 5th grade); so in my lessons I get pretty much free range in the pieces I play provided I can improve my technique with them. I do lean towards the classical, but that's also because I prefer classical music :).
One of the pieces I was working on pedaling with recently was To Zanarkand by Nobuo Uematsu
I'm also in a rock band and play keyboard for it.
FYI - - Okay, so I run across some of the more unusual trade association websites and industry newsletters at work from time to time, and today saw a really good article titled "Red House Furniture Goes Viral" - - click the link here to see the write-up if you haven't already.
thank you, that picture is much like my personality for sure lol yea i do play the oboe, bassoon, english horn, flute, piccolo, violin, mandolin, and guitar...over achiever i know lol but oddly enough i am not a music major, i'm actually an art major, i love both art and music, but i prefer to play music on the side for personal pleasure :)
Hey Teresa! I've been insanely busy trying to get myself graduated (2 months left!) and getting promoted at work...good 'problems' to have, but it's leaving me with zero free time.
I'm not sure if I ever congratulated you on your graduation; good job!!! And teaching in Thailand...you are far too cool/beastly, my friend!
How goes it with you?
Thank you for adding my discussion I hope that you've added you and hope to here what every other mythical beast have to add
be you mythical best today and everyday

Sorry for not getting back with you about the concert!! I remembered and then forgot and played that game for a week and then completely forgot! We were going through accreditation at the time (we had 2 in one month) so things around school were absolute chaos. Sorry!! How did it go? How did your interview go?
As for the red shirts, we haven't seen any in our area . . .when we leave our area we do (i.e. sukhimvit & asoke) but when we stay home, we're fine. We've heard that there is a cell in the Sanam Luang area, but we don't ever go that way!
I read about the yellow shirts too!! Oh man!! I wonder what is going to happen! I read that someone thinks if it continues, a civil war could occur. Yikes!!

You're also a musician I've noted (har har har). What kinda stuff if your favorite to sing? Play anything else?

I've had many thoughts of naming the son I hope someday to have Jethro.
