Well. It’s officially been one whole year. *pats self on back*

Well. It’s officially been one whole year. *pats self on back*

I’ve been a Rhett and Link fan for just about 3 years now. I’ve loved watching all their videos and many times I’ve heard them talk about this ‘Rhett and Link Kommunity’. I never once thought of actually joining it. So, I went on without knowing what the Kommunity even was.

One year ago today, I finally joined the Komm. I can honestly remember that day very well. The reason I joined the Komm is all thanks to Jose and his mythical shoes. My friend Jose wore his black and gray mythical shoes one day, and without a doubt, I noticed them.

I whispered to Jacob: “Hey….Jose has mythical shoes!” His response was: “What?! I need to go talk to him.”

Jacob ran up to him and started going on about how much we love Rhett and Link. I had no idea Jose was a fan of R&L, so we had a fun conversation. He asked us if we were on the Kommunity, and we both replied, no. He told us a little about it, and persuaded us to join. That was the first thing we did when we got home that night. Thus, two new mythical beasts were recruited into the kommunity.

I was very skeptical at first. Not to mention, very confused as to how the Komm worked. Took a bit of getting used to, but I figured it out. One of my first friends I made was Aimee. Or should I say, The Aimee. Thanks for being so friendly and awesome, Aimee. (and also for the abundance of mini cheesecakes!) :D
My next step was to pick a mythical beast name. I contemplated this for hours (I can never decide on things). Finally, it came to me, and I found the perfect name: Swamp Chicken.

Now, I know this may cause you to raise your eyebrow, but there’s a (not-so-interesting) story behind this name.

I went to Disneyland over the summer in 2010, and we had a mass supply of walkie-talkies. My dad, being the kid that he is, decided we need to have code names for when we contacted each other. He thought for about 2 seconds, and said: “Swamp Chicken. Yep. That’s you, Jessica.” I couldn’t help but laugh and accept my new code name. So, I have my dad to thank for giving me my future mythical beast name—even though we didn’t know it at the time.

Fast forward one year, and here I am today. I am so grateful I joined. I only wish I had done so earlier. I’ve made great friends and have had a plentiful amount of laughs thanks to all of you guys (you know who you are). :)

So, I hope you’ve enjoyed my little story thing. I felt it was necessary to celebrate, and this was my way of doing so. Thanks again to everyone, you guys are awesome.

Adios, farwell, live long and prosper, and may the force be with you. *cheesy smile*

Well, I don't know what to call this...I guess you can call it a poem-thingy? I don't know...anyways, I wrote this about a dream I had quite a few years ago. It really stuck out in my mind, and I've never forgotten it.

A pale moon hovers quietly over the sky,

looking down on all that rests.

I slowly slip into the darkness that overcomes me,

finding myself in familiar, yet strange territory.

A pale moon hovers quietly over the sky,

looking down on all that rests.

I slowly slip into the darkness that overcomes me,

finding myself in familiar, yet strange territory.

I remember people, many people, surrounding me,

but trying to make myself the only one there.

I’m aware of all that is around,

but unable to grasp it.

I walk an unsteady path, on shaky ground.

Starting on my hands and knees, hesitant to look up,

not knowing of what may be.

Shadows of doubt creep into my mind,

making my fears so surreal.

I feel my body come to a stop.

I’m unable to move.

While frozen in my fear, I see the image in front of me.

A vision so clear in my mind.

“Steady, steady…” are the words repeatedly being said to me.

Full of strength and encouragement, lifting me up to my feet.

I walk safely, without worried thoughts.

Yet, one thought remains,

I trust in you.
Poem #2tag:rhettandlinkommunity.com,2011-09-20:2452419:BlogPost:4159282011-09-20T03:28:36.000ZJessica (Swamp Chicken)https://rhettandlinkommunity.com/profile/JessicaVasquez

Here is another simple poem that I wrote because I was bored. Nothing spectacular, but I wanted to share it anyways. I wrote this poem based on a personal topic, hope you like it.

The Voice

A bitter chill passes by,

And I feel the loneliness inside.

That constant shadow over me,

A weight that won’t let me free.

But I heard a whisper in my ear,

A voice I heard through all the fear.

Words of comfort and of hope,

A contentment to help me cope.

It keeps me from falling into despair,

Happiness as soft as a prayer,

I would not consider myself a poet, but here is a poem I wrote last year that I am actually happy with. This type of poem is called a found poem.

A Gentle Breath of Hope

In a deep song voice, with a melancholy tone,

she spews gusts and thunders

patches of standing water.

I didn't believe that I would cross that bridge.

Where the arm had been torn away, a wing grew.

Not every seed finds barren soil,

not all the wings of dream are broken.

Now I'm standing on the other side.
Stop Motion Poetry!tag:rhettandlinkommunity.com,2011-07-15:2452419:BlogPost:3531192011-07-15T19:00:00.000ZJessica (Swamp Chicken)https://rhettandlinkommunity.com/profile/JessicaVasquez
