A group for support, advocacy, and education involving mental health, disorders, and just a general support group. I can also share my ideas on where to find resources in your area for assistance.
Come here if you want to learn about mental illnesses, have a disorder, need friendly support in dark times, share success stories, and more.
An important thing to consider while discussing sensitive issues (especially when it involves something personal) is privacy and the level of comfort found in confidentiality. My goal is for members of this group to feel comfortable discussing things that might bother them, and sometimes it involves controversial topics. I would advise to be conscientious of your personal disgression, especially when it comes to social media such as this.
In many, if not all, Human Services fields, there is a confidentiality contract signed by the client. While I am by no means a professional, licensed therapist, I would like to extend the same contract to people reading this right now. I would like to change this to a private group, however I feel it is important to leave it open for a certain amount of time for people to get a feel for what I'm about.
1. I am not a licensed professional. I am a student at Northern Technical College in the Human Services program. [If there are any employed in a HS career, I'd like your input especially.]
2. Respect and open-mindedness are key to creating a safe environment for people to share. I hope this will be a place where people can share their ideas, advice, and alternate perspectives on a situation.
3. Harm none, and be free! You have freedom in this group, but that comes with responsibility in your actions towards others. In other words, slamming, bullying, purposefully riling others up will not be tolerable in this group.
If you agree I invite you to "sign" by replying below. This group will become private within the next week.
Oh and another thing. I'm terrible with computer know how and posting etiquette, acronyms, web-slang. So if anyone can help me, that's great!
