Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

I started making my own Mythical Junk Boulder. I was originally going to add one thing per day but it's so much fun I've decided to take pictures when I work on it and add them to my dropbox.

I think it would be awesome if all us mythical beats could all make our own boulders and then somehow meet up to combine them into a Mythical Junk Mountain!

I will reply to this post when I make significant additions to my boulder. You can also keep checking that link for new pictures.

Here is an update.

There are much more pictures and some videos in my dropbox folder for this project.  https://www.dropbox.com/sh/a1mkbp1vb4ca8we/AAC8s-p7A_CybOa9rDxXeNtQ...

I am thinking I want to mail it to Rhett and Link when it gets to big for me to handle. Not sure I would have the money to ship it though XD

What is the criteria for an item to qualify for your MJB?

If the only requirement is that it is a true piece of JUNK * . . . found or scavenged from somewhere without any cost to obtain . . .  then it surely looks like you are well on your way to a landslide creation.

* JUNK [ jəNGk ] - -

1.) recyclable waste used to build and maintain things;

2.) garbage, trash or worthless items

3.) old or discarded articles that are considered useless or of little value;

synonyms:

rubbish · clutter · odds and ends · bric-a-brac · bits and pieces ·

refuse · litter · scrap · waste · debris · detritus · dross

P.S. -- here's an idea that I had way back when that would most likely be a less expensive technique to permanently seal and preserve your MBJ . . .

The only criteria is this

The item must not be dangerous (leaking fluids, fragile glass ext...)

Other then that if we have no use for an item and it would go well on the boulder I glue it on. I try to avoid obvious trash and things that I could easily cover the ball completely in if I wanted. I want to keep variety.

I like your silicone caulk idea but I am already thinking shipping it to Rhett and Link might be too much money so any additional costs aside from glue sticks is a bit frowned upon.

I would love to find someone with a large band saw so I could cut it into cross sections and take lots of pictures to show the geological history of the boulder.

I am still working on this. I got excited and just started working on it for longer periods, once I get around to getting some 2 part epoxy with the mixer tip I will be able to make it more structurally sound and then finish it. Not sure when I could send it in to Rhett and Link but that is the plan.
