Because somebody will eventually ask . . .

Pumpkin pie spice is a blend of "warm" spices, generally including some or all of the following: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, clove, allspice, mace. There are indeed a lot of pie recipes out there that call for pumpkin pie spice, but there are probably as many where the recipe writer specifies a particular mix of individual spices.

There are a variety of pumpkin pie spice blends on the market at various prices in various quantities. You can also easily make your own. — and quite possibly without having to run out to the store. Here are a few options:

  • Mix 1/4 cup of cinnamon with 4 tsp of ground ginger and 2 tsp of nutmeg
  • Mix 1/4 cup cinnamon with 1 Tbsp each of ground ginger, nutmeg, and ground cloves
  • Mix 1/4 cup cinnamon with 2 Tbsp of ground ginger and 1 Tbsp each of nutmeg and ground cloves
  • Mix 2 Tbsp each of cinnamon and ground ginger with 1 Tbsp ground nutmeg and 1 tsp ground allspice

Seems like the recent episodes have been about 40% "Will It _______" / Food challenges, 40% list games, and 20% miscellaneous like experiments/collaborations/non-list games. Hardly any more of the simple "sit down and just talk" episodes a la Chia Lincoln, or even the early GMM episodes.

I certainly realize that after 555 episodes, there's no way they can sustain having every show be a story about their lives. But a little more would be nice, in my opinion.

And many of the food challenges and listings are a re-hash of videos someone else has recently posted, not original at all.  It makes me sad.

Yep. Again, I totally can understand the heft behind having to come up with content for ~10 minutes GMM + ~10 supplemental minutes GMMore, 5 days a week, several weeks in a row. In a situation like that, it's natural to want to have some support from external content.

But I still wish we'd get a few more episodes unguided by something like a list or a challenge. Not sure if we have hit the point where majority of the now 4 million subscribers have subscribed FOR the list and challenge episodes, because that's what GMM has always been from their perspective. But a few of us at least remember the earlier days, and quite liked them!

I began watching GMM in August of this year.  In a shameful binge, I went through and watched everything as far back as GMCL.  I agree that there is a certain charm that is missing from the newer seasons.

I still like the show and will keep watching, but this current season has been pretty hit-or-miss. This past week in particular has seemed especially stale.

It's nice to hear your perspective! Congrats on your (semi-recent) conversion to being a Mythical Beast!

Yeah, agreed. Even if they need a significant percentage of their shows to be based on external content, lists, challenges, etc., there should still be room for them to share particular stories and events that have recently happened to them. In the past couple of seasons, we've seen those stories relegated to GMMore instead -- but, like you, I still think they're worthy of the spotlight.

The challenge/list idea has existed in GMM from the beginning (e.g., the "Best ___" shows), but Rhett and Link built the GMM brand on the basis of being good storytellers. Where's the evidence of that now?
