Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

From the field notes of R. Andler:

I discovered the most peculiarly remarkable creature on my explorations today. Its anatomy most closely resembled that of a ground squirrel with disproportionately small forepaws and a thin, nearly bare tail but for a tuft of fur on the tip. But what made this creature so remarkable was its antlers and wings. Yes, antlers and wings. Between its round ears sprout a pair of miniature antlers - long, straight, and branched. They appear to be completely normal. The wings are small and covered in downy fur. They appear to be vestigial, like an emu's, though it may be that they are folded and their extent is great enough to support the creature's weight. I must capture one for further examination - I was fortunate enough to observe one closely enough for an adequately detailed sketch, but not enough to trap it before it scampered away.

Clearly this is a new creature, though one so extraordinary that my colleagues may doubt my truthfulness. As its discoverer, I of course lay claim to naming rights, and have decided its scientific name to be Randlerus Mythicus.

Haha, wow, I stand corrected, Gumbo! (again) I gues I've only ever heard Bigfoot referred to in the singular. (Though admittedly, I do not follow the details of cryptozoology.)

What in the wide-wide-world-of-sports are you talking about ? Only ONE bigfoot?  I've got a family of 7 living in my backyard, including Grandpa Bob Bigfoot.

'I Fed Bigfoot Blueberry Bagels,' Michigan Woman Says

A woman in Newaygo County, Mich., told Discovery News that she has been interacting with and actually feeding a large family of close to 10 Bigfoot-like creatures who live in the woods near her home for the past two years.

Thanks for the spelling correction, Gumbo! Its a little late for me to change the title on the drawing, I guess...

Something I have been wondering about lately -- are there more than one RandLer (like we talk of multiple unicorns), or is it unique beast, like Bigfoot?

The name RandLer was actually first suggested in the "What do we call ourselves?" discussion.  The Kommunity members were fairly evenly split between RandLer and Mythical Beasts and the debate got quite heated for a while, with MB ultimately winning out in the end. The follow-up suggestion that "the fans duke it out over being called RandLers or Mythical Beasts, West Side Story style" never actually happened, but it was close.

Later, when the suggestion was made that the Kommunity should have an official mascot, RandLer (NOTE: the proper spelling is always with a capital L) was the obvious choice.

Thanks everyone! I had a lot of fun drawing this and thinking up the description -- so much fun, in fact, that I'd like to do more "excerpts from R. Andler's field journal" in the future.  But there's so little randler lore to go on! So I made a discussion, per Andrew's suggestion -  check it out in the modified description.

@Gumbo -- thanks for the links! I'd actually just finished reading through the two main discussion threads before you posted them. Still not a lot to go on beyond its mere appearance.

@Lysh - he turned out a little fuzzier than I intended, but erasing would have undone too much so I stuck with it.

@Mythiclol - I don't know! Perhaps other pages in the field journal will shed some light on that topic. ;)

Last but not least, @Link -- THANK you for your comment! Seeing the notification in my inbox this morning totally made my day.  :D
