Hello fellow Crafty Critters & Mythical Beasts!

I remember way back in my kindergarten days, we had "show and tell." I was always excited about "show and tell" time and I can remember once bringing in my pet parakeet, Tasha, to show to my classmates. Anyway, I digress, I thought it would be nice to have a show & tell section where we can share pics, etc. about what we are working on. Please show & tell about your creations. :)

One of my current projects is making sculptures from unwanted items (aka "trash"). Whenever I'm ready to throw away an empty container or bottle, "I ask myself what can I make with that?" And I end up saving an assortment of plastic or glass bottles/containers. I also have a collection of burned out light bulbs ranging from the average incandescent bulb to mini halogen ones and floodlights.

Here's a pic of my Recyc-a-lite bird sculptures, named "Flora", "Blueberry Cheeks" and "Pip." My facebook fans helped me name the last two birds, they are always so good at helping me think of names for my critters! :)

Oh, those are great Christine!! Very cute, what did you use to mold the feathers and legs, clay/femo? And are the flowers painted on? Almost looks like stamps, they are so perfect!

Great discussion, you have opened up a can for us crafters! I love show and tell!!!
Ok, here's one from a few years back. I made a bunch of x-mas decorations, using a glass block from Home Depot, and hubby drilled a hole where I could insert a string of lights. Then I decorated the outside with ribbon and such. There were a big hit at work and people tell me year after year "I still have your Xmas decoration and it's so pretty." Gives me the warm fuzzies. :o)

The picture is from my old cell phone so it's really small.

Thanks, Tammy!

I covered the light bulbs with PaperClay and used wire mesh covered with masking tape to form the wings. The feet/legs I made with wire covered with Apoxie Sculpt and PaperClay. I hand painted the flowers on the bird.

Tammy,

That Christmas decoration is so pretty and kool! I am a fan of those kind of glass blocks. I have seen some people use them at craft shows and they are always some of my favorites. I only wish you had a bigger pic to see it better.

This is a rose that I created a few days ago, It was my first attempt at a flower with a stem

This was just a sculpture that I saw on the back of a box and wanted to try, and well this is how it turned out.
I am sorry for not having the penny in there to show you how big it is, but it's just a tiny bit bigger than a quarter.

This is an origami dragon that I made about a month ago that I wanted to share.
The brown circle is a penny, and the Kanji means dragon.

This is a basket of fruit sculpture that I made a few days ago That I wanted to share.
Yet again the brown circle is a penny.

I am sorry for the bad quality pictures, my dad's phone doesn't do good with close-ups.
Debi,

Very nice sculptures! I see that you enjoy working on a miniature scale, like I do on a lot of my creations. Your rose petals look so nice and delicate. Are you planning on painting your sculptures? What type of modeling compound do you use to make them?

Thanks for sharing your work! :)
Thank you so much for the compliments,
Well I would be painting them except I don't have any good paint, and I am not very good at painting, so usually when my sculptures are colored it's because I used colored clay.
The clay that I used for this is Sculpey Original. :)

Very nice shirts! I also liked the sock patterns you selected from the knitting book. Are you going to knit some of those sock patterns?

Dunno. I am not a really big sock knitter.. usually I have to be paid to knit them.. but I do have a bunch of sock yarn, and lines at Disney to wait in so perhaps.. we'll see..
I enjoy sewing, but I'm definitely a beginner. My favorite thing about it is that you can find something too big/small/ugly at a second hand store, use your imagination, and turn it into something that's attractive and fits! I have an awful time finding things that fit me right, and making/altering my own clothes has really helped me out in that department.

The first picture is a dress made from an XL t-shirt. I made it using a tutorial on Craftster.org. I'd be happy to find the link to it, if anyone is interested in making one themselves.
The second dress was made using a f.r.e.e.! pattern from The Selfish Seamstress (check out her blog if you haven't already). It's called the "Coffee Date" dress. Really easy to make...except for the zipper. I. Hate. Sewing. Zippers.
In the third picture is a peasant shirt I made for my daughter out of a thrifted, vintage pillowcase. She wore it when we met Rhett and Link in NC. :)
