Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

Hello from the mitten state! We've got lakes; five of them and they're all great. Despite our state economy taking a nose-dive in recent years, Michigan still has a lot to offer. There's breathtaking scenery to the north, and some awesome little "big" cities in the south-east. (I'm sure the west side of the state does too, but I don't live there, so I'm biased.)

Our governor is trying to resurrect this fair state by luring in the movie industry...it's kinda cool; DeNiro was filming something around Ypsi in the past couple of months, and Drew Barrymore shot a movie in Saline last year. (maybe the year before that, time has been flying.) 'Tis kinda a big deal for our humble state, hence the shameless name-dropping.

If you ever come to Michigan, you must head to the top of the mitten, go across the bridge, and find the Mystery Spot. It's worth the drive, I promise. (don't be surprised if someone calls you a fudgie while you're up there...it's the northerners' nickname for tourists.)

***I changed the title because I had just heard Michigan being called this the other day...I've lived here for my entire life, how have I not heard it before???

I am a mitten dweller as well! I live an hour south of Bay city  but only visit the water at my family's. They have vacation homes  in Houghten Lake/Rosscommon. Love the water!

Love the title by the way!!!!!

Hello! Greetings from me! Currently located in the center of Michigan's lower half, but originate from the Thumb.

Noticing people talking about movies that were filmed in their hometown. If you saw "This Must be the Place" with Sean Penn, You saw a representation of Bad Axe, MI throughout the movie.

734. Represent.

U of M Wolverines!!!!!!!!

Hoorah for Michigan! This mythical beast also comes from the mitten.

I live in the mitten also. The western part. A movie was filmed in my hometown. It was called Touchback. I can identify almost everything in that movie. If you don't know this already Michigan has the greatest fudge from Mackinaw City especially.

Mac island Fudge! Anatomy of a Murder was filmed in Marquette
