OK, here's what happens allot of the time: If he comes back tonight we will be judged by him. Well, allot of people have faced judging already, the people at the school they go to, sometimes their church, and they feel bad enough as it is, like they aren't enough for the world around them. As sad as it is, it happens to be the world today. Now here's a curve-ball that I gonna throw at anyone who reads this, because we need to have an answer for it: Why do you believe what you believe? Apparently if you are in this discussion you are a Christian, so, why then? No offense meant by this, but one day someone is going to ask you, they aren't going to be a Christian, and we all need to be able to answer it.
This is a good question Jack.
For me it is only God who gave me the belief in Him. He sought me I didn't seek Him. He gave me knowledge about Jesus and how it was only through Him that we can have eternal life. There is no other way to God accept through Jesus.

Alright, here's a question. Is lying wrong? Why? (I am going somewhere with this)
Is sinning wrong

OK Kevin, If God were to say: Thou shall not lie, and then you do, would that be a sin? God did directly say, thou shall not lie!

Right on Jack, but how can that be explained if I were to respond with something to the effect of, "Where did you find that?" Or "How does he have any authority to tell me what to do?"

*When a friend of mine went through this discussion, my first inkling was the obvious, just like yours. Let's dig a little deeper yet, here...
I suppose I could say, it depends on the situation... but watch my response to Jack as we draw this out a little more. ...To be sure, my heart is in the right place.

You 100% right jack. A lie is a lie. And number nine says that. If God thinks lying is ok he would have said only lie if it can help you.

Person comes in your home to rob you and asks for money because you don't want him to have it, you say, "I don't have any money", when in fact you do. Was it ok to lie about that? NO.

OK Kevin, if you lie, and don't know that you did, and what you said you truly thought was the truth then that's a completely different story.

Alright, here we come to where I am going with this... We live in a postmodern culture that has a hard time with absolutes. So in a situation like that where someone raises the question of "Is lying wrong?" I believe that the 'automatic' answers of "God said so." or "The Bible tells me so," are not sufficient enough to members of this culture to adjust their means of living. We, then, would need to show the How or the Why God has the authority to ask such a thing of us. We need also to uncover the character of God within their heart and show it to them. So in the case of Lying, Lying is indeed wrong; and because it is contradictory to the character of God, Who is Truth.

That is the best start to a explanation that I have been able to come up with... (sometimes it gets my head into a knot) So I hope that I have not made any enemies by starting this discussion in this manner. I am glad that your responses were genuine and indeed truthful.

No hard feelings generated on my part, I love a great debate!

Kevin, Jack and I and hope others like to discuss these kind of questions. It keeps us on our toes and that's what Satan totally hates. I am for not making satan happy. I hope we can have more of this.

Thank you, Truly!!!
