Hi! I need help from any people out there that know how to deal with this! A sapsucker woodpecker and some kind of beetle are attacking our pine trees! I don't know what to do! Please offer some remedies to this! Thanks!

I am excited. Yesterday my Theobroma Cacao trees were delivered and today I am noticing something very Mythical about some of the plants in my garden!
Last month I potted a number of my plants and ended up running low on soil. Noticing that I wouldnt have enough to finish I decided to take the last few pots and fill them halfway with fresh mulch then top them with soil.
I didn't think it would make a big difference because the plants were moderately small. In the midst of this I potted one of my Passion fruit vines separately so that I can gift it later. This morning I noticed that the plants with mulch in the pot base... were actually doing far better then the one I potted separately! Other then the mulch nothing was different. In fact the mulch was helping the other plants but not for the reasons you assume!

Plant growth is determined by the root system!
A plant grows a short root system then shoots up and out of the ground. It grows more roots then grows taller and the plant will continue this its entire life until its mature.
Water isn't necessarily the prime factor of plant growth!
In fact plants grow roots to search for water.
You dont want to keep your soil heavy and damp because the roots only take in water and it takes twice as long to grow.

Mulching the bottom of your pots provides the soil with extra drying. Not so much that it will dry out it just pulls the moisture down. And you want this because the plants will grow root systems faster this way.
I find that I water my plants once a day and the plants without mulch dont need it but the plants with mulch can use it.
