RhettandLinKommunity

Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

Those that have listened to/watched the lastest Ear Biscuit are aware that Links's daughter Lily is facing major medical procedures/surgery in the not too distant future. I immediately thought we, as a kommunity, could figure out a way to shower her with love through cards wishing her well. Use your imagination!

Brainstorming of other ideas is certainly welcome.

Let's Be our Mythical Best!

Instead of collecting the cards, if you would like, please send them to R&L's PO Box.

I mean it being from "The Mythical Beasts" also includes people that don't wanna be included though
It just feels weird to me bc Lily isn't in the public eye, her dad is but she isn't o;

I think maybe a card if ppl Really wanna mail something is a good idea, I mean "Get well soon" cards exist for a reason

And donating to a scoliosis charity would be doing something good while also making an impact but not crossing any weird boundaries

I agree, I mean I completely understand Casper's side and understand.

She is aware we exist, I mean i remember back when they did Rhett & Link Kast Lily would frequently (as well as the other children) make an appearance so in a sense we all have collectively watched her grow up when she would be there and now make appearances on the show.

The only problem with gifts I see is Casper's point of it being too weird and not only that what would one get her? I haven't the slightest clue what shes into lol. I think Get Well and Encouragement cards or letters to her as well as her family are a fantastic idea.

This Kommunity always lifts one another when we need it as well as rallies together when things take a turn. This time it just happened to affect Link, I think its wonderful for them to know that they have a support system behind them and are keeping them in their thoughts. it helps someone know they aren't alone when dealing with something this intense.

Ok, scrap the gift idea. But I was taught to help who I can, where I can. I'm having a hard time trying to see the difference between helping to provide mosquito nets where they're needed, helping children have food in their bellies, spending an afternoon with someone who is lonely, and maybe adding a little sunshine wherever it can help. Love is love is love.
I was also raised to help and I love to help, that's why I mentioned donating to a charity as it'll help in the long-run a lotta people with the condition!
When something happened with a friend of mine due to things that were out of my control, I donated to a charity because I knew it'd help a lot of people that're in my friends position.
Seeing as we don't know Lily I think it's a reasonable idea o;

I'm sorry to poo-poo on the gift thing but we don't know Lily and don't know what she likes or really what kinda person she is.
I understand that the idea came from the best intentions though I really do!! Cards still send well wishes.
I'm just, I know several people are adults and she's only a child, I feel we should be wary

I think you bring up some good points, Casper.

Before I read the thread, I was planning on sending a get well card to "Lily c/o Mythical Entertainment" PO Box. But, I really like the idea of donating to a Scoliosis foundation as a Kommunity.

How about a card shower? That still leaves room for foldable art, stickers, etc. I like the idea of donating to a charity. There's options.

I like this idea!

Link might be the best person to ask where he would suggest donations can go: Which charity can we support?

And just send cards straight to California? No deadline.

Many Mythical Beasts around social media have seconded the idea of donating to a charity or charities to aid research into scoliosis, as a way to show support to Lily and the Neal family.

The Scoliosis Research Society has been suggested for a U.S.-based option. The National Scoliosis Foundation is also a large, U.S. scoliosis research foundation. A number of other non-profit organizations also show up in a simple web search for "scoliosis charities."

For international Mythical Beasts, I think some Internet searching would also turn up scoliosis organizations they can donate to within their own countries, if they would prefer to do that.

This is awesome. I am gonna send it with the other stuff I was sending :p

I agree with Casper here...just from the perspective of someone who's had family members undergo extended hospital stays and major surgeries, getting a bunch of mail from many unknown but well-meaning people would've been pretty overwhelming. I think it would be more respectful of their privacy to just stick to sending well-wishing tweets and donating to charity.

I'm glad you and others are agreeing!! I was worried I was just totally poo-pooing on everyone but I really really think the big picture is important to look at o;
