I would definitely be open to coming to a belated Mythicon if the date works! We are going on vacation (to So-Cal! Fingers crossed for a serendipidous run-in ;)) in mid/late September but I would definitely come down to Chicago if the date worked. Keep us posted!

doing my best to keep up here.

Thank you for replying.

I would also be interested in a belated Mythicon for Chicago! (or if anyone does decide to host for the normal August date, but I don't feel like I'm up for hosting.)

Hello Mythical Beasts!!

I am new to the rhettandlinkommunity website, but I have been a mythical beast for a few years. I was wondering if anyone could give me a crash course on what you do at mythicon, and what you would have to do if you were to be the host. I am considering it, as it is only an hour away and I know a lot of mythical beasts who could help me. Thanks in advance!!

Hi, Hannah! Hosting a Mythicon is actually pretty simple -- all you really need is:

  • Your time commitment of about an hour, starting at 1:00 pm on August 13
  • A public location (like a park or mall) that's easy for everyone to find
  • A couple of planned Rhett and Link-themed activities such as icebreakers/introductions, trivia, or filming a Wheel of Mythicality video!

For more activity ideas, you can check out this thread: http://rhettandlinkommunity.com/group/mythicon-2014/forum/topics/my...

Thank you so much! I think I might host it... but I will look into it further!

@ Hannah - - IF YOU HOST IT, THEY WILL COME!

What in the wide, wide world of sports is MythiCon?

Awesome! I was thinking of having it at The Chicago Bean and than maybe walking to some sort of cafe. Also, (sorry if this may seem nosey/intrusive) but what is the average age of people who have to this Mythicon in years past? My friends and are going into 7th grade, but I know there are mythical beasts of all ages out there.

As you might have already seen in the comments above, seltay- Bennu-Tennin was last year's host for the Chicago event that did meet up at The Bean . . . here is a little clip that they put together and some pics from that gathering.

Also, a link to last year's CHICAGO discussion (5 pages) which may aid you in promotion:

I'm going to do some (boop a dee oop oop oop oop oop) research on fun attractions in Chicago. I just thought of the bean because that is something Chicago is known for (and is free). Oh! Maybe we could meet at a Garrett's! That would be fun... Anyway, I have to put some further thought into what we will do.

I got it! We could go to NAVY PIER! And we could do the wheel of mythicality video in front of the ferris wheel. What do you guys think?

To host you would have to get a place that a bunch of ppl could go to talk about r&l maybe like a park or something. And maybe refreshments and decorations and stuff like that.
