**UPDATE**

We have reduced the membership count enough to unlock sign-ups and add new members to the Kommunity again!

Huge thanks goes to our K-Mod and administrator Gumbo123 for really leading this effort.

Keeping the membership count under the new 100,000 limit will continue to be an ongoing task. The criteria for account deletion that are detailed in the original message (below) still remain.

Hello, Kommunity --

Earlier, we informed you that sign-ups were temporarily closed due to an unforeseen change in our Ning account plan that instated a new 100,000 membership limit on our site. Ning initially told us that we don't have a membership limit and should function as normal, but after Rhett and Link pursued the issue when our sign-ups remained blocked, Ning reversed its position and informed us that the 100,000 membership limit is part of our account plan. In order to add new members, we must either stay below the 100,000 limit or upgrade to the next account tier, which is an unrealistically expensive tier for us.

We're sorry to say that the moderators must now start removing inactive accounts in order to add any new ones going forward.

WHAT THIS MEANS

Effective today, the moderators will begin reviewing and removing inactive Kommunity accounts. We currently have 107,500 member accounts and must be well below the 100,000 cap to have room to add new members in the future.

The moderators have agreed to very limited, strict criteria for removal that will ensure we only remove accounts that were created but never used.

Accounts that meet ALL of the following criteria will be removed:

Joined on or after August 1, 2011
Joined on or before July 31, 2015
No listed activity in the activity log. Activity includes uploads, comments, likes, friends added, and profile pictures.

Examples:

Account A joined on April 20, 2015 and has zero account activity. Account A will be removed.

Account B joined on April 20, 2015 and has one or more activity events in the activity log. Account B will not be removed.

This will remain an ongoing process, even after membership is below the limit again. The moderators do not have a deadline for completion.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO

Members do not have to do anything during this process.

Please be assured that accounts that meet ONE OR MORE of these criteria will NOT be removed:

Joined on or after August 1, 2015
Joined on or before July 31, 2011
Have one or more activity events in the activity log

If you meet any of these criteria, you do not have to be concerned about your account.

I know this is a mess and I love the fact that we have grown to the point to worry about this. BUT, it is also upsetting that there are so many folks that are just not active here and causing this sort of issue. The fear that one day ALL accounts will be active and over 100K is what creeps into my head, Again, thanks for all you do KMods!!

I haven't posted much in the last year, thanks to wedding+life meaning I'm perpetually like 4mo behind on GMM and don't always want to resurrect old comment threads. Good to know that my account will still be here for when I catch up (the backlog is slowly decreasing!)

1. All who joined in the last 9 months (after July 31,2014) are SAFE
2. All who joined in the first 2 years of the Kommunity arr SAFE
3. "Targeted" accounts are primarily those that joined, never did anything, and never returned after Day 1 --- we call these ONE TIMERS

The one timer pool gives us at least 38,000 to work with, and we will give preference to keep those who at least bothered enough to add a profile pic to their page. Overall there will be no impact to the Kommunity, other than the time and energy it takes for the K-mod team to clear out the deadweight to make room for new members to join.

Thanks for your understanding. The doors should be open again very soon!
