From the Books and the Movies. I know we must all have them. Might as well put them all in one place.

The Shire must truly be a great realm, Master Gamgee, where gardeners are held in high honor.

Frodo: "I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."

Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide.  All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

I absolutely love this quote, was watching the movie the other day and thinking that.

I could list so many...

But one of my most favoritest scenes is Sam's speech:

"- I can't do this Sam.

- I know, it's all wrong. By rights, we shouldn't even be here...but we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes, you didn't want to know the end, because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the suns shines, it'll shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only the didn't. They kept going, because they were holding on to something.

- What are we holding onto Sam?

- That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for."

Also:

"- I didn't think it would end this way.

- End? No. The journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that all must take. The gray rain curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass. Then you see it...

- What, Gandalf? See what?

- White shores...and beyond a far green country, under a swift sunrise.

-Well, that isn't so bad.

-No. No it isn't."

I. love. them. so. much. I'll be honest......I typed those both by memory. heh. *cheesy smile*

Oh my goodness, chills at the first long quote by Sam! <3

Theoden: Eomer. Take your Èored down the left flank. Gamling, follow the King's banner down the center. Grimbold, take your company right, after you pass the wall. Forth, and fear no darkness! Arise! Arise, Riders of Theoden! Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered! A sword day... a red day... ere the sun rises!

Eowyn to Merry: Whatever happens, stay with me. I'll look after you.
(The King rides past his men, hitting their spears with his sword as he goes)
Theoden: Ride now!... Ride now!... Ride! Ride to ruin and the world's ending!
(He stops and faces Sauron's army)
Theoden: Death!
Rohirrim: (echoing) !!!Death!!!
Theoden: Death!
Rohirrim:echoing Death!
Theoden: DEATH!
Eowyn and Merry: Death!
Theoden: Forth, Eorlingas!

*Epic music plays* and the chaos of battle ensues.

I've got to put one more, my favorite quote, only my 2nd favorite scene though.(first quote is my favorite scene)

Aragorn: Hold your ground, hold your ground! Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day! An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you !!!stand, Men of the West!!!

I know its long but too amazingly inspiring to pass up!

Gah, I got chills reading these quotes! I love all those pre-battle speeches, especially Theoden's,....so epic!!

I agree! I love Aragorn's speech!

I love this one! It just really captures the spirit of what was going on.

Oooh so epic!

#1(movie) Frodo: Those who claim to be against the enemy may do well not to hinder us. Faramir: His sense of duty was probably no less than yours, I wonder where he came from, if he had a family....

#2(movie) Sam: Potatoes, potatoes, boil them, mash  them stick em in a stew. Smeagul: Ew nasty chips, fat hobbit eats his fish in chips, I like it raw and rivotting!

I haven't finished reading the book yet so I can't see anything there. But I do love the part when the hobbits come to the dark forest and talk to Tom Bombadill.

haha, that's okay, Charlie! It's still a great quote ;)

haha, oh, Pippin! :D
