Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

I've only ever lived in Missouri, and I'm not quite sure what to post here that identifies the state.

In the Civil War there was a big controversy over whether Missouri would be a free state or a slave state ending in the Missouri Compromise. My American History professor was sure to make sure we all knew that as certified Missourians.

We're known for not believing in anything until we are shown proof (thus we are the Show Me State).

People like to complain that Missouri has a mind of it's own when it comes to weather. It can be bright and sunny one day and then snowing the next, but I'm actually not quite sure that's just Missouri. I've heard other state locals complain about the same as if it were specific to their state.

We're just smack dab in the middle of the country. Not really North, not really South, definitely not coastal. But if you want to see a cheesy, overly-hyped, live show come on down to Branson. Missouri has an entire city dedicated to just that, and that's where I go to school.

What do you think of when you think of Missouri?

I posted myself on Missouri and Chicago. I'm born and raised in Chicago but I'm currently going to school in Missouri (Hey i'm spending majority of my year there why not?). I think of Branson and their confederate flags, or the gazillion little towns in Missouri. I swear everyone is from somewhere different that I meet.

*shrug* I like it thus far.
Ah, Missouri. Definitely a state where the main focus in the middle. I personally love Missouri, it tends to remind me of BBQ and random weather (Which is a plus, if you ask me :D)
I live in Gladstone, and Missouri reminds me of home, BBQ, and the Royals.
Spwingfield! When I think of Missouri, I think of pretty sunsets, Elvis impersonators giving out free show tickets in an IHOP, and Kum & Gos, which are pretty exclusive to the central states.
I grew up in Missouri, but I don't live there now. I moved to Arizona as a pre-teen. But I really miss the rolling green hills of Missouri.
When I think of Missouri, I think of how I can outside and know that I am not the only one who looks or sounds funny.
Been in Mo for ... 9 years. I have coined my own name for it (at least the SW where i am... at least I think it's my own creation (: ), The Arctic Amazon. I find it quite fitting. Wassup ArcticAmazonians!
I've lived in MO my whole life and love it here! Weather seems to either be perfect of horrible... but its a fun place to live!
I spent the first 14 years of my life in Missouri. Tiny town, but absolutely gorgeous land. I was close enough to the border of Arkansas that I was raised as though I lived in the South. I always picture the weather, hearty food, and hills when I think back.
Ah, Missouri. Warm and sunny one day, snowing the next. I know a lot of other states say this as well, but we sure have crazy weather. But, be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. :)

I am a Missourian. Have been all 14 years of my life. :) Is anyone else here from Missouri? Any part of Missouri, I'm from North West Missouri, by Kansas City.

Missourian and new Mythical Beast reporting in! Much love to the whole state -- we get a lot of bad raps, even from my fellow St. Louisans, but it is truly a great state, with great country, great cities, and great people!

Yeah, Missouri! (I somehow feel like Rhett and Link's inability to find our state line while crossing the country is some sort of deep commentary on the personality of our state) Anywho, home is Springfield area, but currently I'm at school in CoMo (that'd be Columbia), but not Mizzou (which is what everyone automatically thinks even though there are at least 4 other colleges in this town...)

I'm in St. Louis. Not sure how to do the mythical beast stuff, but it is fun to read what everyone else is thinking. Some really creative people and a great start to my day, so thanks!

I am but I don't like it here much

Just wondering, are there any Randolph County mythical beasts besides me? I get the feeling that I'm the only one.
