There should be a law against calling any product BACON if it is not made of 100% PORK
I enjoyed the full Irish breakfast every morning during a trip there last summer, which always includes the "Irish bacon" version which is much different from what we typically refer to as bacon in the USA. They eat back bacon, what we refer to here as "Canadian bacon" or even HAM . . .
Now, don't get me wrong . . . we traveled to 8 different B&Bs or hotels and ate a lot of Irish bacon over the two-week trip, and I did enjoy it (especially the Callan brand of rashers imaged above) . . . but it's just not the same as what I grew up with in the deep south. Most Irish nationals that I chatted with over breakfast admitted they would rather have American-style or "streaky bacon" if it were more readily available and afordable.

Personally bacon is great and all, but I never was obsessed with it. I think it tastes nasty when I eat to much. I know that at the local store we have Hickory Bacon and gotta say, it's pretty good!
One time on vacation my family stayed at a bed and breakfast. We awoke to the wonderful aroma of bacon, walked downstairs in anticipation.....and found out it was soy bacon (looked much like the veggie bacon above). It was dry and tasted terrible. It was a huge disappointment.
