I thought the same. But for a different reason . . .

Same here . . . I waited about 3 months before seeing the original Jurassic Park because I really wanted to see it on that 80-foot tall IMAX screen and there wasn't one in the city I lived in at the time . . . but on my next trip to San Antonio . . . WOW!!!

I hate (yes, it's that strong) movies in 3-D because I can't afford a pair of tinted glasses with my prescription and the "one size fits most" over my glasses never works.

If I do catch a movie at the cinema never want to go on the first day of release because I hate a crowded theater and the chatter noise that most of the uber-fans are making that drowns out the soundtrack.  DVDs at home are always best - - on the sofa with my own popcorn and endless cold sweet iced tea.

Plus, they refused to sell me a ticket last time I showed up at the theater wearing my PJ's.

3D glasses over regular glasses is an issue for me too, though not because they're not big enough to fit over my real glasses. They just don't sit on my face correctly -- my real frames slide low on my nose as it is (either they're ill-adjusted or my nose is just unsupportive), and the 3D glasses ride low on my already low frames so that I'm basically seeing only half the screen in 3D. So then I have to tilt my head weirdly in a balancing act, constantly adjust both pairs of frames higher onto my face, or hold the 3D frames in the right place for the entire movie. Not worth it.

I kind of want to see it but haven't had many weekends free to do so...so despite the "you gotta see it on the big screen" I'm probably going to wind up seeing it on DVD. I got a little annoyed at Link for mentioning even minor spoilers and ended up muting them for a while.

I got all excited that we were going to have what I still think of as a "full length" GMM...darn. The related rambling of GMMore is fun, but I kinda like the old format better. *Especially* when I'm catching up on episodes by watching/listening to them back to back while cooking or doing dishes - it's a little annoying to have to wipe my hands clean to click through to GMMore and then back to get everything. (And I don't see how 9-10min is any more "shareable" than the old average 12-13min.) < / end gripe >

I'm usually a late movie-goer or a "wait til DVD-er", partly because of cost but mostly because I'm a social movie-goer. Like Gumbo, if I'm going to watch a movie by myself I'd rather be curled up in comfy clothes with a blanket and snacks with my laptop on my lap. If I go to a movie theater, I'd much rather go with some friends and make an event of it. So unless I find some friends who want to watch a movie I want to see...I usually wait. There are a few movies that I see within a week of them coming out regardless, though (like Pixar movies).

I still haven't seen Gravity. Looks like I will be the last one.
