The absolute best of these sites is the Letters to Lorne, the brainchild of David W. Lewis (a.k.a. DW Diamond) who started a letter writing campaign to Lorne Michaels, executive producer of Saturday Night Live, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of his placing as a runner-up in SNL's first and only "Anyone Can Host" contest. DW lost out in the contest to Miskel Spillman, an 80-year-old German immigrant and grandmother from New Orleans http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miskel_Spillman

Mrs. Spillman hosted SNL's 1977 Christmas episode which aired December 17, 1977 and included musical guest Elvis Costello. She remains the only non-celebrity to host the program and for many years held the record as the oldest host in SNL's history, until it was broken on May 8, 2010, by 88-year-old Betty White.

So far, DW's webpage contains 215 letters to Lorne . . . and several include quick links to scanned pics of the various envelopes he hand crafts for mailing his letters to Lorne and other television celebrities:

The ending for this episode was also pretty great. I don't laugh at the WoM endings much anymore -- but this one got me!
