Same sorta thing happened to me once.  We were driving up and down the street with a camera hanging out the window making a movie.  Then we got pulled over and it turns out that the driver forgot her license (and she wasn't a citizen of the U.S.)  The police called in two more cars for "backup" and then after like half an hour of questioning and waiting, they let us go without a ticket and told us to tell everyone at our college (we were filming for a class) to call the police before they shot so that if people got freaked out, the police would know what was up.
