Summer is a great time to get a job. There are many great experiences involved with having a job. If your are considering getting a summer job go for it! And even if you are in the process of filling out job applications I think you will find these tips helpful.

I remember my first job I got when I turned 18, I was a part time cashier. Looking back I sort of regret not getting a job sooner. However, the experiences I had there helped me get over my shyness; and it also provided me with several stores that ended up in some of my college papers.

My Tips

Getting a job these days can be hard, but that should not stop you. It is all about the people you know and the connections you can make. References are a very important aspect of the job application. But, if you can not think of anyone willing to state positive facts about you and your work ethic that is ok. There are ways of getting references. It is also fine to use family friends as references. But, one great thing you can do to get references is volunteering.

Also, try making your own jobs. This means offering services such as, lawn care, babysitting, nannying or pet-sitting to neighbors and friends. All of these things are in high demand during the summer. Also, you can use these people as future references.

Ask me questions or tell everyone about your summer job experiences.
