Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

I was just telling Tara (Twinchilla... her unofficial name) about Rhett & Link burying a time capsule and digging it back up the next day and it made me think of the boys I was friends with when I was little. I never knew any boys who did such cute, ridiculous things as that, but I did have some friends who were their own brand of silly.

One was named Tony. I knew him when I was eight and living in Virginia Beach. He was a small boy with big glasses, and he was best friends with another of my friends, named Greg. The three of us hung out quite often because Greg's house was just across from our school.

Well, one cold day in winter, we were supposed to be "running for sticks" (this ridiculous activity where we would essentially run a mile around this big field and the teacher would give us a stamped Popsicle stick... the goal was to get five within the allotted time) and I was strolling with Greg and Tony. I dug my hand into the pocket of my hand-me-down coat and pulled out a thing of cinnamon-scented Chapstick. The coat had belonged to my sister prior to my acquisition, and the Chapstick must've been hers as well, but I'd never seen it before. I opened it to smell it and was horrified.

"This doesn't smell like cinnamon!" I made Greg and Tony smell. Tony especially didn't like it. His disgust amused me so much that I kept trying to make him smell it.

So he took off running, shouting, "AHHHH EVIL CHAPSTICK!" and I chased after him, waving it around gleefully.

"What? You don't like it, Tony?!"

And the nickname stuck. He kept calling me Evil Chapstick for the better part of the rest of our friendship. I moved away two years later.

With the miracle of Facebook, he found me a few years ago. We had a good laugh. Then he came to visit me at school. :) I didn't make him smell anything.
