being a lucid dreamer I suffer from night terrors....and not ones easily explained.

but I am able to control my dreams and view it more like a movie.

sometimes they are alot of fun being able to create my own world where physics are more broken than goat simulator.

The_flannel_phoenix, I will then present to you the technique that has worked for me several times. It's all about checking if you're dreaming many times during the day which increases your chance of checking it in your dream too. There are some tests which will help you find out if you're dreaming. The easiest one and most effective for me is looking at a book cover or basically at anything with written text on it, then looking away and then looking at it again. If the text changes, you're in a dream! However you will need to do it many times a day until it becomes your habit.
One more piece of advice - if there is a particular object/person/animal/situation that you tend to dream about, do the test whenever you see it in real life. For example I often have fake awakenings - I dream about waking up and doing the things that I normally do in the morning so I've learned to check if I'm dreaming every time I wake up. It has helped me a lot. I hope it works for you too :)

Also, I learned that my father is a lucid dreamer. He said that he was pretty much born one (after I told him what lucid dreaming was). Anyway, I will be trying to lucid dream once again tonight. (U.U) zzz

Firstborn Unicorn, I have tried this a couple if times for several nights and it hasn't worked. Last night was the best that it worked, because I realized I was in my dream for brief periods. If you can give me other suggestions that would be wonderful.

So, did it work The_flannel_phoenix? Don't give up if it didn't! You will probably need a lot of patience. You can keep trying this technique or I can give you some new ones if you like. They will require more effort but they might be more effective.

Great to have some feedback from someone who really experienced what I'm talking about! I hope it will work for me. I'm really afraid of facing my fears even in dreams but thanks to you, Rachel I believe overcoming them will be possible. Dreams are extremely powerful.

These are great comments. I like where Firstborn Unicorn wrote she was hoping dreamwork will help her overcome shyness or phobia. It's been my experience that this really can happen! Negative experiences in dreams are my favourite to work with because it shows us where the biggest fears are and when we flip them to positives then the fear can be overcome in real life. Just some thoughts.

Sure! You can try a few techniques. The easiest one (for beginners) never actually worked on me but many people say it's the best. Here it is: while lying in your bed you count to 30 with your eyes closed, then open them and count to 3. Then close them again and repeat until you fall asleep. You will probably have a lucid dream then.
