Since you run, do you race?  What distance and how often?Me - I have run 3 5k's, a 1m, and a half marathon so far.  My favorite is the HM.  Anything shorter just doesn't seem worth my getting up…Continue

I run 5k's, 3200m, and 1600m. And for a freshman in high school, I have perfected them.

The longest I've raced is a 10k, but idk if it actually counts as a race, because it was in the dark with about 3 in. of snow on the ground, and i got lost at one point. But I've also run a few 5k's, and a lot of 2k's for xc. When i'm training, I usually run about 4-8 miles.

I pride myself as an athletic person, and plan to become the fastest person in the world. I judge this by the speed you can run the mile in, because I consider that the perfect middle distance run. I plan to be running the mile in under five minutes by the end of 2012, I am doing quite well in my goal. I plan to have run 3:30 while in high school, which gives me plenty of time.  Right now I can run the mile in about 5:30, I improve an average of 80 seconds a year, I have only been training since 2010, so I am confident.

It's been a while since I've run last. I'm feeling motivated this Saturday morning - I'm out of shape so I'll go for a 4 mile jog. I'm hoping to do a half Ironman this summer so I do need to start training for that.

How bout you? Are you training for anything this year? Or just running to stay in shape? Or just because it feels so darn good?

Cool, I was thinking we needed a group like this and what do you know, here it is. :)

I started running in high school track and cross country. I LOVED cross country!! If anybody who reads this is contemplating joining their school's XC team DO IT!

My last running event was preceded by a 1 mile swim and a 25 mile bike ride. The run was a 10K. I had done a few sprint triathlons while in high school over 16 years ago but this was my first Olympic length tri. It was incredibly challenging but yet so great! If you've got a bike and know how to swim I encourage you to try a tri - they're very rewarding!

I love to run but usually it's a matter of finding the time for it. Most of the races I've done are in the 5K range mainly because that's what's most popular in the area. I try to get in a half marathon every year or two. It's hard work when I'm out there but that runners high feels so good when I'm done! :)

It boggles my mind how fat America has gotten. I don't get it. That's one of the reasons I LOVE participating in fun runs and races - because I get to be reminded and encouraged that some people do care about their health.

Sweet idea for a group. I ran my first marathon 4 years ago. Since then I've done a few shorter races, did a half marathon a year ago.... As of late, I've become rather lazy, though.... I need to find a new race to train for!

Ditto, Amanda. I like being able to escape from the hectic stuff in my life and just have some quiet time. I also run with my wife, and it feels nice to spend time with her without all the other distractions.

And hey, spring is comping! We're almost up to 70* down in TX (should be a lot warmer by now, actually), so the running is MUCH more comfortable than trying to get out in below-freezing temps.
