Nobody showed up to the mythicon I hosted XD I kinda had a feeling that would happen
Could somebody maybe host a meet up in Birmingham, I'm too young to set one up myself and my parents don't want to travel too far for one day, plus they don't trust me, that I'm going to meet people I've talked to on line. If one is closer, I may be able to persuade them.
Hello!
I am being as thick as thick here - but what is the date and time for the one in London (I am 10 miles away in Essex!)? I can see in a previous comment 19/07, but nothing confirming this?
Thanks guys!
I will hopefully be attending the Hyde Park meetup and bringing a few friends, as I live just outside London :D
* previous example rates based on five adult fares > > > adjusted to £59.20 for one adult accompanying five additional passengers aged 15 or less (just to give you an idea)
@ Alfie - - looks like it's less than 80 miles from Southampton to the Hyde Park, London . . . how much closer does it need to be? Can't really be putting these events in everyones backyard, but if you really need to just gather up your friends and have your own Mini-MythiCon.
How many folks are you talking about anyways? perhaps you could carpool . . . or take the train . . . or National Express motorcoach . . . or hitch hike . . . or walk . . . or teleportation . . .
http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/Airport/trainline/index.aspx?f...
See example below: £61.00 could get five (5) of you from Southampton to the London Victoria station (and back) with adequate time for mythical sightseeing and . . . this thing is doable!!!
WHERE THERE'S A WILL, THERE'S A WAY!
A bit more info about the Corby Mythicon! Please plan to be able to arrive at the boating lake for 1:30 pm, 45 minutes for eating/mingling until 2:15pm we split off into two groups: I will take one group to a decided activity, and the other host will take the other group to another activity (you'll be able to choose which group you want to be part of) We'll regroup at 3:00pm back at the boating lake for more discussion and activities. we plan to finish by around 3:30pm or 4:00pm so people can get back to their trains/busses and home on time. :)
if only it was further south DX i live n the south coast by the Isle of Wight, so i'm praying that they make a new meet up further south because all my friends and I really want to go DX
Ok so the London MythiCon Meetup will be at Hyde Park in London. Plan is to meet at Speaker's Corner near Marble Arch Tube Station because its easy to find, then migrate to the grass while still being visible from Speaker's Corner.
Here's a basic Google Maps to get there from the station:
And here's what it should look like when you get there:
Address is Speaker's Corner, Marble Arch, Hyde Park, London W2 2EU
There's a few places close to that side of the park where people can get food etc so it seemed like a good place to go.
You heard it folks! Elizabeth Henderson is now in charge of the London meetup.
Details will follow . . . now spread the word!
If anyone wanted a London MythiCon or meetup I would be happy to help organize it. I've organized several meet-ups before with other people and it would be cool to meet some Mythical Beasts near me <3
If people are up for it and getting there I'd be happy to host at the boating lake in Corby (in Northamptonshire), I know alot of people might prefer London or somewhere more known, but the town is easy enough to find on google maps, and I have rather fun ideas for activities planned, the boating lake has a cafe so the group can get something to eat and drink, and a lovely scenic area around with benches and a small woods. I have created a map to the find the boating lake cafe from the main town, and as I am there each saturday anyway, I feel that I would be a good host if the location was chosen. To recognise me I'd be standing outside the cafe area with a mythicon poster or banner :)
