O my Gino. Sorry you had that happen to ya. I hope you are ok now. We won't bully you here nor make you write Right handed.

Jeanette. I went to some schools that if a teacher even tried to use practices like these, they probably would have been locked up in the trunk of their own car. Even by first graders. I benefited from that lawless system, to develop my left handedness. But everyone saw me as a being queer so i was victim of all kind of bullying. So, being able to develop my leftieness, was almost the only thing I gained. :)
Seriously, they didn't mind what hand dominated at school.

I happen to be very left dominant, but I think we use both without even realizing how much. I broke my right arm some years ago and thought 'no big deal. It's my right arm, I don't really need it.' Boy, was I wrong! I couldn't wash my hair well, put on mascara on my right eye, brush the left side of my teeth, tie shoes, etc. It was all odd stuff that I had never stopped to consider. It took me by surprise that I used 'Righty' as much as I did.

It's funny that you mention doors, Teresa. My husband has yelled at me for years about 'opening the wrong door.' I reach out with my left hand and open the left hand door when I'm going in, which in the right hand world is the out door. I've tried to adapt when he's around, but not always been successful.

Jeanette, you're fine. Some of the best people I know are ambidextrous. I even know a few righties who aren't too bad. Matter of fact, I married one, so no discrimination here. ;)

Thank you Teresa for making me feel normal. ;-)

Jeanette, I do some tasks right handed, but that is because I've had to learn how to do them right-handed. How about door knobs, like ones on your front door or around your house? They are on the left side. Thinking about reaching out for that door knob with my left hand is really awkward. Most lefties do some things with their right hands. I drink right handed when I eat because I hold my silverware in my left hand. So, it's ok! It's perfectly normal to do somethings right handed.

I don't know if becasue of making me write right handed made me ambidextrous. I write left handed, eat left handed yet I catch left handed and throw right handed. I play racquetball and tennis with both hands. Because I am this way am I out of the group?

That happened to my dad, Jeanette, but not me. He wrote right handed, but did everything else left-handed. I'm 53. My first grade teacher taught me write properly as a lefty, not as a righty, for which I am eternally grateful. Thank you, Mrs. Orr!

Did anyone here have to right right handed becasue left handed wasn't right.
When I was in 1st grade my teacher made me put my left hand behind my back. Didn't work, I still write left handed at 41. Any corky stories like this? Anyone?
