Hey!  I've been hanging here a little while trying to figure out the whole Kommunity thing...  I'm a home school mom of 4 at the Rivendell Academy in NC.

I found out about Rhett & Link when I was told in January that one of the ladies in my home school co-op class was moving to L.A. for her husband's job.  LOL!

Well, I looked him up, and now, my whole family is addicted to R&L and can sing almost all of their songs by heart.  My sweet 10 year-old asked one day in the car, "Mama, Who do you think won the 'Epic Rap Battle'?"  So, being a great home educator, I asked, "Who do you think won, Honey?"

Theresa, I am so sorry that I have not responded sooner---I just logged onto this site for the first time in a couple weeks!!  To answer your question with just one word:  NO!!!  My "kids" are now 31 and 27, and they have answered this question for themselves MANY TIMES over the years!!!  My son had the opportunity to be an escort at several public school friends' proms--he attended two.  My daughter had the opportunity to attend with several public school friends, but she chose not to, of her own accord.  Contrary to public opinion, they both led VERY socially active lives, and they have turned out to be extremely mature adults!!  My daughter was telling her nephew (my grandson, who is also being homeschooled) that when she was younger it seemed as if her "status" as a homeschooler was constant conversation; but now that she is older, whenever her co-workers find out that she was homeschooled, their common response is, "Oh, cool!"

I'm a graduated homeschooler. My mom just graduated the last of us five after schooling us all the way through high school.

Edie, my oldest will be starting high school in the fall.  Did your kids feel like they were missing out by not having all the high school stuff?  Homecoming games and dances and all that?  I just went to my 20 year reunion and it made me wonder if I ought to send them to a private high school at least part time next year.

Technically, I am no longer a homeschooler.  Both my children (homeschooled k-12) are now grown, but I have been blessed with four grandchildren who are currently being homeschooled.  I would just like to encourage the mothers who are doing the hard work of homeschooling---there is no higher calling!  Keep up the good work and God bless each of you!
