What is the sponsorship process? Do you go to businesses, or do they come to you?

I would imagine that starting out you had to approach people. But now that you are receiving more and more platforms, like the NPR interview and the spot for the Red House commercial and even the Brink Space Junk song, that more people are approaching you.

For example and more specifically, what was the process for the Brink sponsorship?

Your intuitions are correct. In the early days (Cornhole song and Dead iPod song), we approached people. We would have an idea, then approach as many companies as possible. In the case of each of those songs, only one company responded and was willing to sponsor the videos.

Over time, things changed...now we almost exclusively work with companies that have approached us (and yes, it comes in waves, especially when we get good press like the past few months).

The Brink deal actually came about through our manager (we have a manager we acquired back when we were hosting Online Nation, and he gets TV work for us). We met with Discovery Channel and its sister channel (Science Channel), over a year ago, and that eventually turned into this opportunity with Brink. We are contracted to do 3 songs for them (we're actually finishing one up tomorrow).
