Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!
I am totally sticking my neck out here to get this discussion going! I HOPE to get some great ideas that are affordable and feasible and BIG enough to celebrate the big FOUR O! There have been some small discussions happening here and there with some pretty amazing ideas for a Kommunity gift, but we need to get them down and get them catalogued. The way I see it, we have a month to plan and then production had better start to get it there on time.
I don't think that too many tangible items are realistic. I am not an editor of any kind..(NOT ASSUMING I AM TAKING ON THIS PROJECT AGAIN BUT FOR WHOEVER DOES....) editing together clips of fans would be a tedious and time consuming job. Not that he's not worth it, but unless someone has 100% of their time to devote to this (which one of you may..*wink wink*) it may turn out to be a mess not worthy of such a milestone birthday. I think the books are always nice, but for this birthday we should think of something more special. ALSO, VERY IMPORTANT... I know jokes are made about Rhett buying useless things but the use of the mousepad from his last gift shows that things that are useful in every day life/business will be probably best.
Remember, the Beast taking on this job will use their time and money to get the gift completed and shipped so making it as easy as possible is best.
Turn your thinkers on and lets make this milestone...that I will share with him only 11 days later... a great one. When one of you decides to head up the project, a separate discussion can be started by you to avoid confusion.
Could maybe even do screen prints of a 40 on them or "Happy Big Four Oh from (insert state here)"
that sounds good.
Maybe a piece of wood from each state tree
I like that idea
Or something made from that kind of wood. Cool idea!
This is a great idea. If we go with it, I can certainly get some South Dakota wood, though I'm not sure if it would be from the official tree.
Sounds good.... Just wondering how multiple people from one state would work out what they wanted to contribute. It would almost feel like just one person from each state was actually getting to participate, unless I am not understanding. And, I have seen how tough it is to get folks to host a Mythicon for each state. I am afraid we'd end up with a lot missing. Thoughts?
We can just as much as we can. If not each state or even at least 40, some would be better than none. I'm sure he'd appreciate it nonetheless.

REMINDER: The guys will be starting their tour right before Rhett's birthday rolls around so anything physical that we mail will probably not be seen by him until they get back home. For this reason, I think making him his own personal website that we can all contribute to would be best. No cost, other than time, for a project manager and he can view the site from anywhere at anytime. Might be a little of a release or downtime activity while they are running from city to city. Maybe a little pick me up. With that said... I have no idea how to create a website where others can contribute to it. So,,,,,,,
I just was put in charge (with some help) for a WordPress Site for my Regiment.
So far All i Know how to do is run the photo section and Event listing.
If anyone else can figure out the rest, I'll volunteer for the "send me pictures" part
I still am for adding the state wood section. something like how to identify the tree and what the wood can be used as.
writing a lot more than I thought. I guess we could set up some sort of ambassador from each state to gather things (website would be pictures) then send the final state cards/collages to me (if you do vote on me to run the picture part of a website)
I'll shut up for now.
