Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

I was just wondering if/how people received confirmation of things that were shipped to Rhett & Link other than actually seeing it on the show?

I made a chainmail inlay (see picture) of the Rhett & Link logo and shipped it to them late last year.  They are good fan art, in the sense that the materials are cheap (~$30), but they take a while to make (they are done one link at a time, and ones this size take 40+ hours to make).  I've sold a couple of similar ones for $160 to $180.

So anyway, I shipped it to them with tracking and insurance, and saw that it was "received" in the tracking, but I'd certainly like to know if it made it to the right place, was free of damage, etc., but don't know how to verify that beyond actually seeing it on the show.  I tried emailing and posting on Facebook, but have never received a reply.  I searched through the "kommunity" a bit to see if anyone else had similar queries in this regard and didn't see anything.

Anyone have any insight into this?

I guess I'll also ask the related question:  for people who have gotten art on the show, how long was it between when you sent it in and when it was on the show?

I'm not about to unsubscribe because they won't put my stuff up (they were just finishing up Good Morning Chia Lincoln when I started watching), but if that's the only way for me to know if it actually made it to them in one piece, it would be nice to know when I should just give up on it.  ;-)

Hi Mithril,

I have never personally sent art or packages (just a letter once), so I don't have an anecdote about the timeline. However, there commonly seems to be a delay of a couple of weeks before something sent in the mail makes it onto the show. For example, our Kommunity member KewtKitty made pyrographic art for R&L -- she posted it to the Kommunity on April 22, presumably prior to shipping it, and it was featured on the show on May 7. That doesn't take into account the fact that R&L film their episodes ahead of time.

As far as I know, R&L don't send responses to fan letters or other fan packages, aside from featuring some on the show. The only mail acknowledgment I've heard of recently was from our Kommunity member Lindsey, who posted that she mailed art photos to R&L and received them back with signatures -- three months later.

If you received tracking confirmation of receipt, I'm afraid that's probably all you're going to hear. Your chainmail art looks really amazing, though, and I hope they found a good place to display it in the studio building.

Thanks Victoria!  I did see KewtKitty's post, but didn't match up the timing.  I guess that's just the risk you take sending things like this out.  I'll just continue to hope it made it to them without breaking and they've got it up in their studio somewhere (or jen just took it home and put it on her wall!).

Well, I hope she wouldn't take it home if it wasn't for her, haha...but I know if I were R&L, I would've put your art somewhere I could see it all the time!

If you're interested, in lieu of it being featured on the show, you could upload a standalone photo of the chainmail piece here on the Kommunity and we'd be happy to feature it for other Mythical Beasts to see. :)

Thanks again, Victoria.  I have uploaded the photo of the inlay to the "Beast Kreations" area.  I didn't see any rules about image uploads, so I wasn't sure if it's okay to have a watermarked picture up there, but I just used the same image as above; please let me know if you know otherwise.

Now to get ready for the Lindsey Stirling concert on Thursday!  :-D

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but that chainmail is totally awesome! I hope they end up putting it in the studio somewhere, it would make a great background piece. :)

Thanks!
