Home of Rhett & Link fans - the Mythical Beasts!

I've noticed that in one of the old livekasts (the April 9th 2009 livekast, to be exact) that Link says "As-sallum Alaykum" which means "peace be with you" in Arabic. This caught me by surprise (in a good sense lol) and I'm just wondering how did he know that? Are there any other languages the dynamic duos know? Italian perhaps?...

And to all the mythical beasts out there, what other language do you know besides your native one? e.g. I speak English but I know a little bit of Arabic, French and Italian :)

Je parle Francais. Mais je ne parle pas tres bien. Ou est la bibliotheque? Ou est la piscine?

...And if you watch Flight of the Conchords, "Baguette! Jacques Cousteau!"

That's just about the extent of my knowledge of the language. lol In high school, we had to read Candide...in French of course. Not sure how I got through that. Definitely couldn't do it again!
lol that's good French you have there :) I wish I learnt French at high school because Italian was too easy (even though right now i've forgotten most of it lol).
From my opinion (and 'experience'...) I'd choose French over Arabic lol hard stuff!

oooh Spanish! I'd LOVE to learn that! Though it does sound familiar to Italian. Is it hard to learn?

errr...I first learned "As-sallum Alaykum" from a rap song which I won't cite specifically :)

i took French in High School. my French name was Laurent (Mrs. Slaughter gave us all French-sounding names). I slept through 85% of the class, so she called me "Sleepy Laurent." But, for the record, I still made an A in both French I and II.

As-sallum Alaykum, R-wolf!
Thanks Link ;) you too!
Hmmm I remember my Italian teacher calling me Carlo because it was close to my real name (Charbel). The sad thing is that after learning the easiest language known to mankind, it all faded away LOL

Well, i'm bilingual, Grew up in sweden with my mom and stepdad, mom is swedish but my stepdad didn't know a word of swedish so he spoke english with me. Also know german, and some norwegian and dansih.
I don't really know it well, but I took French in high school.... it's been over four years now!

As a choral music education major, I have to take diction classes (how to speak another language... not to be confused with actually learning it!). So, I can read German, Italian, and French pretty well, even if I don't really know what I am saying. My favorite language to sing in is German, even more than English. We also frequently sing in Latin in choir.
I'm fluent in Spanish. In fact, everyone here is welcome to check out the "Se habla español" group. I am also a 101 student of Portuguese, Italian and German.
I only speak English and a little gibberish every now and then; but, I am going to be learning Latin and French in the near future! Can't wait!!!
French???

Hold on...
